Things I can't tell you about:

>> Ginger just sent me some preliminary artwork for the book cover. I realized once I saw it that I'd been afraid that they would do some very chick-lit looking cover, like, swirly pink font on white or something. Which is nice and all, but I don't really want people walking past it in a bookstore to be like, "Oh, that's a GIRL BOOK." And it's sad, but it's true--it's that old advertising chestnut that girls will buy "boy things" or go to boy movies, but boys won't buy "girl things." (Think of Disney movies, and how much more popular Aladdin was than, say, Mulan. I mean, of course there are plenty of exceptions, and quality--say, Beauty and the Beast--often trumps gender division, but... you know.) So I'm happy with the style they're going with so far.

>> A contestant from The Apprentice who shall remain nameless interviewed for a job with my mom's company. She might or might not actually be working in the same office as Mom, but Mom did get to meet her anyway. And since Mom loves that show, she said it was all she could do the whole time to be like, "After the way you've acted on that show, why would ANYONE want to hire you?" Here's the sad thing: if you're trying to guess which contestant it was, you cannot rule out a single woman on that show based on that statement. The whole cast this season is awful. (I only watch what I catch over my parents' shoulders while I'm downstairs getting tea or something, but I read all the TWOP recaps. They all come off as idiots, and nasty to each other besides.)

Things I can tell you:

>> It's Lostnesday! Whee! Apparently they're also going to move Alias to the Bachelor's slot after they finish up the current Bachelor season, because Desperate Housewives is currently rocking the Alias slot. That's a pretty smart move, actually. I'm kind of sad I didn't start watching Alias when it first started, because I sort of feel daunted by the idea of jumping into it now. (I did watch that one episode they pimped out right after the Super Bowl but... that's about it.) That, and I hear it's kinda started sucking. So... there's that.

>> I realized I hadn't played Kingdom of Loathing in a while, and of course I get there and they have all this new stuff. Dammit. My stats aren't high enough to get too far into the new dungeon, so I guess I'll have to work on that. The funniest new thing they added: "goofballs" (read: crack rock) on the Wrong Side of the Tracks.

>> I hadn't played Neopets in a good long time (shut up! I was trying to goof off a little after that presentation yesterday!), and of course they've got tons of new stuff, but that's pretty much par for the course. You'd think I would have racked up more stuff after three frickin' years, not counting the year or two I played before that on a different account, but no. I'm not so great with the flash games. I'm a Grand Master at, like, solitaire and pyramids. I wish they'd come up with a Neopets mahjongg game, because I could whup up on that. And not get any work done, so... that's probably for the best.

Ya know... it's indcredibly creepy when you go on a first date with a guy, and he recognizes the Aisha keychain dangling from your messenger bag.

It's like... to me... Neopets is online, and people in real life aren't allowed to know of it's existance, because it's mine! Mine I tell you! **foams**

As for KoL, I was so into it over the summer, but I just burned out on it. It started becoming a chore, and I had more meat and items than I knew what to do with.

It's Lostnesday

Hell yeah it is. Yahoo had this sneak peak with some video clips: http://tv.yahoo.com/feature/lost.html (and in case you were wondering, they mention the polar bear!) I do think Sayid is my favorite. Despite the torture scene. Hey, he felt bad about that, as evidenced by his departure from the fake new civilization. Tonight is his episode so *squee.* I want them to do an episode on Michael and Walt, but they don't have one planned for the first half of the season. Maybe that could be a two-parter!

This is definitely my favorite day. Damn West Coast making me have to wait 3 extra hours for Lost...

Hmmm. I'm just going by the recaps, and I don't remember anyone I'd actually want to work with. All I know about Sandy is that she actually rocked the bridal expo task because... that's what she does for a living anyway. It's not her, of course.

I probably shouldn't say whether it's a woman still on the show or not, because my mom was like, "Shhhh! Don't tell anyone! They'll know she didn't win!" Not that I can imagine Trump hiring a woman on a show like this ever anyway, but okay.

I could totally fill you in on the whole plot to this point if you wanted. ;) Like Lost, Alias has its WTF? moments, but if you just let yourself get (ha ha) lost in it, it's really fun. I always end up yelling at the screen and feeling really involved. (Or you could rent the first two season on DVD and I could fill you in on the third.)

As for the sucking . . . I was still into it last season, but Abrams himself is the one who said he didn't like the direction they were taking — that's why it's coming on late this year, he's trying to fix it up and get it back on track. So it should be interesting to see how that goes. Besides which, it has Greg-the-Dead-Pilot-Grunberg! And dead people come back to life! And how could you not watch Victor Garber as Spydaddy?

Ooooh, you play neopets? I just hit the 2 million np mark! It's mainly thanks to obsessively playing neoquest II and being rewarded with an item that sold for more than a million np. My brother is like a neopets genius. I introduced him to it a couple of months ago and he's already racked up more than a million nps. He just got lucky in all the chance stuff. *grumble grumble bitch bitch*

As if! Of course you hafta go rent the first two series of Alias, that's non-negotiable! And of course you know that it was the direction of the show, not the show itself, that people had problems with in the third season. Alias is still so good that I have nothing but praise for it -- the most addictive TV show since X-Files (and probably even more watchable than that one), and the reason I'm getting a region-free DVD player!

2.) I know of only Omarosa and that girl who bitched about some women being "fat old Jewish ladies" or whatever it was she said like that. I am picturing one of these people working for your Mom, and crying as she cleans out her desk because what little I've heard of your mom does not make me think that Evil Chick (whoever she is) would last long around her if by some freak accident EC got hired in the first place.

4.) I haven't been on KoL since about mid-August. Did they ever do the reset?

Lost!

Alias is a good show in spite of itself becoming all convoluted, twist within twist! Unfortunately you'll have to watch the whole shebang (or stop by TWoP) to get the gist of it and even though recaps rock it's not the same as actually seeing the ep.
