See, I knew that I had a strong Gemini streak, but I had no idea about the Aquarius thing. Particularly since Aquarius is the one sign I've never really been able to get a handle on. Whoa.

In case you're wondering, it's not even so much that I "believe" in astrology as I think it's a useful set of personality types. If you're creating a new character, read through those quizzes and ask your character, as it were, some of those questions. You may be surprised by the things you've already decided subconsciously about him or her. If you can figure out which astrological sign the character might be, more or less, you've got a ready-made personality type to work with--you can go look up explanations of that sign and then--and this is the important part--go through the traits and decide which ones you do and do not agree with. I'm not saying astrology is a way to assemble cookie-cutter characters--I'm saying it's a jumping-off point to develop a character more fully and in interesting ways. (Does your character agree with her sign? Does she think astrology is bullshit? Would she rather be a Pisces?)

In fact, I bet that color systems meme (the one where I was pale turquoise--you can probably find it in my journal pretty easily if you scroll back a few entries) would be even easier to do for a character, since you just have to pick adjectives...

That test was tough! It didn't have any options to choose more than one "choice", and it didn't help that I was NEVER in a relationship. I ended up with 47% Libra. o_O

so I did this meme, and I did all of it. Like, i did each one... but I don't know what to do with that now.

I got 100% Aquarius and I'm actually a Capricorn (67%)... but I've always told myself I'm an aquarius anyway... although, i don't really know what that means. the picture in the paper for Aqurius is just cooler.

So could you tell me what it means please?

Wow--that's way different from a Capricorn. Well, the way I use what I know about my astrological chart is I go read up on what that personality type is, because if you recognize what they're talking about, you may be able to learn more about yourself. A lot of times they'll talk about pitfalls for that sign, and that's interesting to think about. The crazy thing is that I've changed a lot personally in the last five years or so--five years ago, Aquarius was totally not me at all, but now that I'm reading the profile (http://www.astrology.com/allaboutyou/sunsigns/aquarius.html) again, it sounds a lot more like the person I've become. Particularly with the "making the world a better place" and "needing to have space" part. Weird.

Ascendant/Rising Sign?

Have you ever tried looking up your Ascendant/Rising Sign? Supposedly, the three astrology signs which affect you the most are...

Your Sun sign (this is the 'usual' one)
Your Ascendant (based on your time of birth, changes every two hours I believe)
Your Moon sign

For example, I don't really think I'm all -that- Taurus-like, but I'm a Virgo Ascendant, which explains a lot of my quirks. They say that the Rising Sign is a lot more accurate than the Sun one.

My ascendant is Virgo, and my moon sign... I guess it's Cancer, because that's where the moon is on my chart. My midheaven/medium coeli/whatever is Gemini, which is also interesting.

Took 'em all and I'm 80% Pisces and 80% Cancer, with Aquarius running a distant second at 67%. I'm actually Pisces, though, and I've always felt it suited me well. I'm least Taurus and Leo, both at 27% — Leo makes sense to me. My little sister's a Leo.

I think Dom has a Sag Sun and Cancer Moon. Best place for a moon to be if you don't mind being one of the worlds biggest softies.

Huh, he's a Sag? I didn't know that. When's his birthday? (Sorry, I sort of collect famous Sagittarians. The best I can come up with on my own birthday is Patty Duke.)

I had never thought about it as being "at odds with myself" until I saw the opposition on the chart, but yeah, I do have a huge problem with having great ideas and then not being able to physically carry them out--backing down or getting shy/scared. Like, I was always terrified to go travel, which is really weird for a Sagittarius, you would think; I finally had to get talked into doing a travel interim in college before I got over that. A Cancer moon totally points to that.

Somewhat more surprisingly, I am only 20% Leo, which is my rising sign. Actually, that's not all that surprising, as I have no self-confidence whatsoever. Heh.

It's funny that you mention these memes in reference to characters -- I have always used picking signs as one of my big character-definition tools, and after you said that in this post, I tried this meme with about five of my random characters, and found out that every last one of them was 87% of their chosen sign. I can't quite figure out what to make of that.

But yeah, I once did the color meme for something like 20 characters in the same series. Now I don't feel quite as geeky about that.
