Tired and sort of sad. You know, for no good reason. Well, actually, there's a lot of tension between various members of my family at the moment--and over several different things, in several different combinations--that I can't really talk about, but... yeah. It would be ridiculous to pull the whole "I AM A SENSITIVE ARTIST! I CANNOT WORK IN THESE CONDITIONS!" thing, because... movie parodies, y'all. But at the same time? Yeah, kinda.

Still hacking away at Star Wars, and finally making some progress. Class starts on Thursday, though--all that work I wanted to get done before school started up again hasn't gotten done.

It's nice that KoL rollover is at 11 pm my time, because I'm done working for the day by then. Kingdom of Loathing blah: Keep in mind that y'all have given me some great links and I've read all of that--the KoL Item Locator and the Service Pack site and the Wikipedia-type Documentation project, etc. Even so:

What, exactly, does a Mr. Accessory do? (I donated $10 to the site after getting Sister Girl and a few other people sucked into it. I figured it was the least I could do.) I have it equipped and it's increased my stats, but... does it do anything else?

Is there a Seal Clubber who could help me smith a crossbow? I have all the materials; it just won't let me do it. Bastards. (Message "Cleolinda" if you have the time.)

At the Chef-Magi store, most of the items are like, "Can only be used by saucerors." Do the pastamancers ever get a break?

(Oh, something I forgot to ask: what do I have to do to get into the Hippy Store? Be a certain level or something, or...?)

Jick has said that multiple accounts are okay so you can play different character classes, as long as there's no "item-farming" to build up the primary account. But... what if you have spare/extra/duplicate items on your primary account and want to send them to your lesser accounts? I think he may have also said that the accounts "shouldn't interact," so... I don't know. It seems silly to have spider webs on one account but need can lids and can lids on another but need spider webs, and not just trade up. Or to have stuff a disco bandit can't use, but not send it to your pastamancer. I dunno.

I'm just a level 3 disco bandit, I don't know any of this stuff, but I have gotten addicted since your recent posts :) I don't have a clue what I'm doing at this point, but I do have some sweet rims I got off a hermit if you can think of any use for them.

My God, you too? I frely admit I'm checking out the quest spoilers, because otherwise I'd just thrash without a clue. (Not all the spoilers; just enough to help me figure out wtf.)

I'm a level 3 Disco Bandit as of this typing; but I haven't smashed my Hippy Stone yet. I'm Mercutia, if you're around. Still don't know if I'm accepted into any guilds yet. Dangit.

Yay! I've read a ton of spoilers, but then I go and forget things instantly, so I'm okay.

I don't know that I'm going to smash my Hippy Stone. I read something about people actually getting to raid your campground. I mean, at least in the Neopets battledome, people don't actually get to take your stuff.

Ooo, you so totally need the sweet rims for your bitchin' meatcar. Keep an eye out for tires. I think you get car stuff in Degrassi Knoll.

Where IS Degrassi Knoll?

Say "Dallas" and I'll poke you. Not in the game. I'll drive down, and I will poke you.

I haven't seen it either. I'm guessing it just hasn't been unlocked yet. I noticed that some areas just show up after gaining a level or completing a task.

I need a clan. Anyone have any suggestions?

I would never!

I think it's in the plains. You may not have leveled up enough for it to appear on your map. I'm still finding new stuff every time I level up.

I think it's in the plains--don't have the map in front of me. It may not appear until you've leveled up a little bit more, but it appears pretty quickly. Most of the mechanical-type stuff is there.

I found it after I leveled up at some stage, but I can't quite remember what level it was that unlocked it. I've found the Limerick Dungeon to be fun as well but that's another stage that you have to unlock as you level.

I'm currently a Level 8 pastamancer.
Cleo - I so know what you mean about stuff being mostly for saucerors, it's annoying.

However, I did just find out that pastamancers can, like, summon dry noodles and stuff. And apparently you have to get a pastamancer to cook your noodles. Or something.

(Saucerors grumble grumble all the cool stuff grumble.)

Indeed you do for most of the parts. I've been in Degrassi Knoll forever trying to get a certain part for my car, empty tank thingy, but just not getting it. I'm thinking it's not there... Instead, I am beating up weird creatures in other areas for a change. Wham! Bazook! Fun!

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Oh, GOD, the empty meat tank. I don't know if you can get it by itself, but there's a chance of getting it if you get a toolbox and open ("use") it. That's the one item I'm always lacking. But it is at Degrassi Knoll. Grrrrrr.

Oh, it worked! It worked! Thank you.

That's the one item I'm always lacking.

Really? You mean a toolbox, right? I've got 3 spare. Want one?

Ooo. I meant a meat tank, but that's generally in the toolbox. Shoot one over if you don't need it. :)

Go to the town and buy a hermit permit from the market. Take it to the mountains, make sure you have a worthless trinket in your possession (if you need one, get it from the sewer using chewing gum on a string, also purchased at the market) and go to the hermitage.

Mr Accessory - I'm not sure, but lots of people are willing to pay millions for one :P

Hippy Store - You need to wear the Hippy Outfit. It's slipped my mind, but you can get the items at the Hippy Camp.

As for Mr. Accessory--I saw someone offering 200 million meat for one. Which is why I started wondering what the hell is does that it's worth that much.

Actually pastamancers don't have it so bad. The eq might not be there for us, but we have some killer spells ;)
I'm Bast over there, aka the noodle/chef fairy ;)

Clanwise hmm...there is the one that I'm in, Bandit's Outpost, that has pretty much all the stuff you could need (meat tree, gym, stash et.al). From what I've seen anyone can join :)

Don't let that get you down.

Oh, hello there. It’s been a while, but I’ve been occupied with other distractions that it’s only now I got around to it.

Some time ago, I was roaming around LJ, checking out for people that I know of, when I found your journal. I'm familiar with your 'Movies in 15 Minutes' series, and they amuse me greatly. So I’ve added you as a friend in my LJ. I know I should’ve done this earlier. Hope you don’t mind. ;)

KoL sounds so intriguing, but I don't think it's a good idea to be playing during office hours. :D

People are willing to pay a lot for MrAs because they're one of the only items which will survive the reset. Meat, familiars, other items - all these will be lost. So people are willing to pay a lot of money (which will soon disappear) for something which will last.

I suspect that some people may also be stockpiling MrAs to sell after the reset so they can have some wealth.

The rules state that it is "illegal" to send items from one account you own to another, however as long as you're discreet there's no reason why you shouldn't. (There was an amusing wank on the boards when one person said that they'd bought two MrAs with one account - and sent one of them to his other account.) One way to circumvent the rules if you want to stick by them is to send the items you want to give to your secondary account to a friend - and have them send the items to your other account. Which really serves no purpose, but then - when is the law ever free of red tape?

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yeah, my sister and I had been doing that, and it got a little silly after a while. We've mostly just been trading up Gourd Tower quest items.

When is the reset going to be, anyway? I keep dreading it. I think it did say in the FAQ that you get to keep one familiar, though.

Date: 2004-08-18 07:49 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/hugsnkisses_/
The reset will happen "at the end of summer" which for you Americans I guess is kinda now, but will go to October for us Brits desperate to cling to any warmth and sunshine. Whatever happens, when the End is announced, there'll be at least two weeks before it happens. And think about how far your characters come in only a week.

I'm a little edgey about it also - leveling up my character all the time instead of completeling the side quests. In the FAQ it says you may be able to keep one familiar - and I think that'll happen. But who knows really?

Jick's tweaking stuff every day, but I think he especially wants to sort all the bugs out so things like the occassions of the past few weeks won't occur in KOL Proper.

You on right now? We can chat in-game if you like :)

so where do you get Mr As in the normal way?

Where do you get them, and at what level are they unlocked?

Cleolinda -- it was you that got me hooked on KoL, i have to add. And I spread it to my friends. That's not a good thing for our employers because for us, the rollover is at 12 noon ...

Awww. Maybe I should go donate some more money, after all the damage to global productivity that I've done...

The Mr. As are easy to get--just go to "donate" at the top of the page and donate $10, and it's immediately given to your account if you use PayPal. I mean, assuming you want to donate money to the game.

Oh also, saw the question...for the hippy store you need to be in the Filthy Hippy costume. Courderoys (sp) and the hair piece.

As for the multiple accounts, just use common sense. Jick would frown on you giving your main account all your gold, but giving a web or two here or there doesnt hurt if it's not going to be put to use.

I just recently started KoL, I'm just plain katiekate over there. Level 3 Pastamancer, and I understand the game but I also know that there's tons I don't know about. Basically, all I'm doing now is fighting random creatures in the woods and haunted pantry. If anyone wants to help me... share any knowledge or anything... or not. I've been checking out those other sites, but they talk about stuff I haven't heard of.

I'm the same thing: level 3 pastamancer. Is there any reason you chose pastamancer? I had no clue, so resorted to random chance. ;)

Fighting random creatures...yes. At the moment I can't seem to detect the appeal other people find in this. Am I dull or what? Does it get better?

Oh, I have a mosquito familiar which is the bright spot of my existence, if not quite the apple of my eye.

Yeah, I like pasta. I would choose something different if I could, though. Pastamancers don't get no respect. (bad grammer intentional) I have a blood faced volleyball (thanks to spoilers) but I haven't bought a terrarium yet. Need to sell more easy to find newbie items for big bucks at the flea market. Well, 200 meat is big bucks to me, but still. And yes, I hope it gets better! (I think it does, I'm just not sure how to get there)
