Okay, you're forgiven for that. Because that made me laugh for fifteen minutes straight.

ANGIE FINKELSTEIN broke the chain and when she finally had a chance to kiss her idol, DOMINIC MONAGHAN, she had a sudden attack of CHRONIC HALITOSIS. EDDIE ROONEY broke the chain and the next day his mother found his stash of MARCUS WELBY/DR. KILDARE FIC!!!

Don't let this happen to you!!!!11

*is impressed*

Like...can you imagine the size of that computer, tottin' it along in a wagon just to get it home from the local depot?

Would take 4 horses and a mule to lug that thing around.

*snorts*

Ah. Amusing.

ROFL! Wow an antique chain letter that's really rare, you should feel special....

I hope that you don't break the chain or you might end up getting attacked by ninja goats or - even worse - rabid badgers!

:-D

I will so join you in that smiting. Chain letters have to be the stupidest things on earth, apart from the ones which have been running via email since 1887. Those ones must be pretty damn spiffy and way ahead of their time.

I had a friend who sent me a chain letter once, causing my estimation of her intelligence to slip waaaaay down. What is the point of the stupid things?

Don't laugh. It's doable. Where I live we still have email via smoke signal!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for that! I'm still laughing out loud.

BTW, I HATE chain letters as well. Especially the ones that tell you better and better things will happen the more people you pass them to.

What if said entity miscounted or forgot one? That SO wouldn't be fair.

ROTFL! A really ancient mail. But funny or not, it would still fall victim to my delete key. Chain letters are the most stupid thing people could come up with.

omg, they had email in 1887. how cool is that? i'm gonna send it on immediately to everyone i know!

God, I hate these things. When I was much much younger and got one, (in the post) I was freaked out (if mildly doubtful). Now, they're just silly and annoying.

It's just too bad Al Gore wasn't around in 1887 to invent the internet or that could've really increased their chain length. :)
Hmm, or they could've use the CPIP or Carrier Pigeon Internet Protocol (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc1149.txt?number=1149) to run an internet service spanning the US. Even in 1887. ;) Just think! Spamming the wagon trains!

Oooh! Feel free to forward any stupid chain letters or inspirational crap to me. My friends and I turn them into written "episodes" of Mystery Science Theater 3000, and then I post them here on my web site (http://www.crimsonquill.com/miscmain.htm) for all to point at and laugh.

I would suppose the 'original' was, in theory, a snail chain letter. At least the U.S. postal service believes so, and we don't want to burst their bubble, do we?

I have this vision of ten snails chained to an envelope, pulling it across the wide prairie. AN ATTACK! QUICK, CIRCLE THE SNAILS! Or perhaps one should just 'slug' it out? *cough-cough*

I hate chain letters like every other person in the world, but I find it amusing that some nitwit would send a chain letter/e-mail that started in 1887.

And in all caps. I want to shoot the guy who wrote that chainmail.

That's great. Except for the part where there were no computers in 1887, but whatever.

You better pass it on, though, or you'll be attacked in your sleep by some 5 year old girl with no face and no parents and no broomstick

I added you because you are Teh Coolness, but you already knew that.

Peace, yo.
