Relating to [livejournal.com profile] misia's post that I linked last night: for anyone who wants to put them anywhere.

(I wanted a generic picture of a woman who looked happy and free, but yes, I ended up using shots of Tori Amos. It seemed fitting.)

These are very nice.

I'm upset that the comments to the post are now lost.

Since you're a FWer... *cough* (http://www.livejournal.com/users/misia/445834.html?thread=3625098#t3625098).

I mean, nothing untoward. Just... yeah.

AHHGGHGHGH!

Crispy Christ on a cracker. I just...there are no words.

I wonder who she ripped that lovely sentiment of support and loyalty off of.

Those are really great. Joyful, but dignified. They hit the right point on the continuum between too light and too heavy.

Thanks. It's sort of what I'd wish for a survivor to be able to achieve--a certain peace and joy. :)

The use of Tori IS rather fitting and I think she'd rather like it. Thanks for posting these. I posted a link to your journal, I hope you don't mind.

Of course not! I have an open-linking policy regarding my journal. ;)

I see a problem

Men can be sexually assaulted too.

I thought he was going to offer me a job at his law firm, instead he offered me his hand, in my crotch. When I backed away from him, he followed me.

After he drove me home he said, "I hope I didn't make you feel uncomfortable." I told him he did. He responded, "I hope that doesn't mean we can't still be friends."

he was 40, I was 20.

I have no doubt that men can be assaulted, too, and I hope that you can find Tori joy, as we sort of called it upthread, too. That's why I tried to focus in very close on her face--to try to make it as unisex and nonspecific as possible.

i was going to mention that as well, and say that on a certain level, since one of the main themes of this is to NOT remain silent, and to NOT pretend that these things dont happen, it would be really awesome to see even a few with pictures of a man.

[livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, your pictures are wonderful, powerful, and mean a lot - thank you.

if you dont personally want to make male ones, would you be offended if i snagged your font style and made some myself? i feel that it really is kind of vital to the theme, though i dont want to come off sounding like a critic in any way for the wonderful things that you have presented here, so please dont take it as such. you are appreciated, and thank you. =)

No, no, go for it. The font is Sylfaen, if I recall correctly. :)

In my "Survivor" post I said at the end that too many of us have been victims; male, female, young, old. I know men and boys who have been sexually assaulted. It's about awareness and standing up.

Guys can absolutely be victims. One of my very good friends was raped by his friend - he helped me through my own time of need years later.

I love the icons and the underlying (yet powerful) message about being a victim of sexual abuse. It goes to show how someone can reach others even through a simple icon. :)

I looked through the m15m and saw the anouncement about needing to join, so...uhh...can I? ^^'

Yeah, sure thing. Just go to the m15m user info page and there's a "Join this community" link there. Everyone already has commenting ability, so if it says anything about posting ability, you won't need that.

I'm not taking any, but great job. Oh, and I'm too lazy to go back and comment on an earlier entry of yours, but now I'm getting late June/early July comments e-mailed to me as well.

I like them very much. I also like the message attached, because sometimes those of us who have had to survive need to hear words like that. And for the oddball survivor who doesn't need to hear it, it always makes you at least feel better. But the rest of us need all the encouragement we can get to keep waking up and keep going.

Cooool! Unfortunately, after being a Tori fan for about ten years, I'm struggling with her new work! Anyway, I might use one! :) Thanks for doing them anyway.

BUT I'm going to use this opportunity to direct you to my lj in which I have a related entry on a topic I think is far too often overlooked! I want it seen. ;)
