Dear Tyrell, Whoever You Are: Stop Giving Your Conquests My Cell Number, Kthnxbai

"You Tyrell's new girlfriend?"

"No, ma'am, I am not Tyrell's girlfriend."

"You don't got Tyrell's baby, DO YOU?"

"No, ma'am, I do not have anybody's baby."

"Don't you LIE TO ME, GIRL!"

"Ma'am, I'm hanging up now."

"GIRL, DON'T YOU--"

Why I Decided That The Crimson Petal and the White Is the Most Awesome Book Ever on Page 59

"So there you have it: the thoughts (somewhat pruned of repetition) of William Rackham as he sits on his bench in St. James's Park. If you are bored beyond endurance, I can only offer my promise that there will be fucking in the very near future, not to mention madness, abduction, and violent death."

No, Really

Have about 2500 words' worth of notes on "Titanic in 15 Minutes," but nothing that really hangs together yet. Have started typing up LOTR notes. Need to move DVD player back upstairs to my room, which will be a nightmare of moving extremely tall and heavy furniture to get it hooked back up, but I need to have these movies running while I try to decipher my own handwriting ("She's... dying? drowning? dragging? dogging?")

Whaaaaat?

My email has just been flooded with LJ comment notifications for comments from June. So, uh... if I didn't get back to you about something... now you know why.

Daily Countdown: 59 days until manuscript is due. With that in mind--no, I can't do The Village, or anything else, for the foreseeable future.

Girl, I KNEW I'd find you again! How could you give me such sass, after all Tyrell did fo you? Huh? Huh?

The Crimson Petal and the White, eh? Hhmmmmm. I'll be looking that up.

Just so ya know - I think you're the shit.

D'ya want us to look up Tyrell and start calling his cell multiple times, run up his minutes, have him thinking twice about giving out your number? And next time Ol' Girl calls you and gives you grief, mess with her: "I'm not sure if it's his baby... I think he's a candidate..." (I watch too much Maury Povich. Sorry.)

I think you can run with that Titanic dialogue. Just add water. Pun intended.

Jack! Rose!

ROFLMAOOOOOOO

Oh, my God, girl. Okay, first off, that thing with the Jack and the Rose and the Jack and the Rose is the most HILARIOUS THING EVER and I have been making fun of it for years, to die-hard Titanic fans who accuse me of having a large chunk of freon where my heart ought to be. So thank you.

That Tyrell thing... oh, dear. Oh... dear.

And I <3 The Crimson Petal and the White as well. Though I did like it better in the first three hundred pages. Maybe it was just the strain of carrying it around all week, or something.

And you know, that isn't even necessarily being mean to Titanic or its fans--you hear that in movies all the time. In fact, I remember getting a lot of mileage out of that in Troy ("BRISEIS!" "PARIS!" "BRISEIS!") It's just... way more obvious in Titanic, or overdone, or something.

You're right about half of Titanic being "Rose!" and "Jack!". What can I say, it's a love story.

Aw, I'm disappointed you can't do The Village. It would've been interesting to see you do, because I think it sucked.

Y'know, I had that happen to me, too. Only my caller got insulted when I told her I wasn't sleeping with Shawnte(sp?). Literally started yelling at me because "You don't think my man good enough for you? Huh, bitch?" I hung up after that, and labeled that number DO NOT ANSWER in my caller ID. People need some home training.

ps- love the icon.

Ahahahaha... as I wrote in my journal some months ago, when my best friend and I decided we needed to revisit our old friend Titanic:

I don't think I'll ever stop loving that movie, but we just made fun of it the whole time. Like, the ridiculous amount of times that Rose and Jack say each others' names (e.g. "Jack! Wait, Jack! I couldn't possibly, Jack! JACK!"). I mean, presumably you know you're addressing each other, is it REALLY necessary to keep using their name?? And also, the amount of times people get punched in that movie. It's quite entertaining, and would probably make an amusing drinking game.

:D

Well, now I'm a little upset that I didn't get further into The Crimson Petal and The White.

(I was feeling horribly lazy that month, and took it back to the library before even making much of a crack in it. Heh.)

Ah well.

Oh no! lol @ Tyrell's conquest caller, but yay for Titanic. Seriously, my mum came out of the cinema after (we saw it together) and said "I think they spent too much time in corriders filling with water". Eh, no shit, mamma. Buut ... you go, and serious - the Tyrell thing made me laugh.

Email notifications ... well, they're *still* going missing. I was all fine up until just now - no problems, and reading what you were saying and thinking "lucky me, I haven't had that happen to me" - and then suddenly, two comments posted to a comment and a post of mine in the last half hour did not equal email notification ... so. Rah! It's still *happening* They're *still* getting lost. Did they say they'd fixed it? Because I might have to let them know that there's still an air buble or two in the system :)

Sister, good luck with that book. I bought it and read about 1/2 to 2/3 of it when I just couldn't stand Victorian ho's anymore, and skipped to the end to find out what happened. I decided from that day forward never to buy a paperback that was thicker than my ass.

Huh. I really like it so far--I got to something like 271 last night and made myself put the book down because it was four in the morning. But then, this kind of Victorian How They Really Lived stuff is like catnip for me.

Why I Decided That The Crimson Petal and the White Is the Most Awesome Book Ever on Page 59

I think I decided the same thing at the same spot. I loved the beginning of that book. Unfortunately however, I didn't think the rest of it lived up to the brilliance of that narration.

But YMMV.

It's the kind of book that, once I read the ending, finds me wishing for that week back. I enjoyed it 'til the end, and then I wanted to throw it against the wall.

Actually, it's a lot like Ann Patchett's Bel Canto, another tosser.

Hey, it's fine, get some work done!!I'll take a crack at something for you:
The Village in 20 seconds:
"Hi, we're all last century and stuff, so you know that means stinky armpits and all that.
This guy is a frickin' idiot. This guy is the strong, silent type. Oh no, bad stuff is happening! Man, Ron Howard's daughter is a smokin' babe! And Judy Greer is so not a babe! Okay, plot development! And..it's over. Who wants Taco Bell?"

See? No spoilers.

Because of you, I felt the need to watch Titanic until 1 am last night in the dark airconditioning of my apartment.

I can't decide if that was a good thing or a bad thing. But I did end up rewatching the Ioan bits a number of times...

And the Titanic heaven is STILL just painful... maybe it is just the applauding part...

I've read about half of "the crimson petal..." but I had to stop for a while because it was just kinda depressing! I still can't figure out if the prostitute girl really likes him or if she's just using him for a better life. I guess eventually I should pick it up again!
