This and that:

I love this comic. The latest is basically every Harry Potter book, ever, summarized for your convenience.

Neil Gaiman's journal: Is it wrong that I actually kinda want to read a book like this? (Also: the "I have seen the face on the dollar bill" guy? Freak. Show.)

Re: plagiarism: And I thought I had it bad.

Soulseek is awesome. I had been using eDonkey, but on [livejournal.com profile] marcusisabadass's recommendation, switched to this one, and I've downloaded five or six songs today alone that I've spent weeks trying to get off eD. Yay!

Speaking of Marcus--you'll remember him as our host in New Orleans--he's put up his official Gilmer for Congress 2006 journal. Come on, y'all--you have to appreciate a guy with an Official Campaign Hoochie.

Meanwhile, I'm still transcribing the New Orleans phone posts, for those of you who 1) couldn't get them to download or 2) couldn't understand what I was saying, which is extremely possible, as there are times on the posts when I can't understand what I was saying.

Oh, and by the way: Simon and I have settled on which ten movies to do for the book. I'll be making an official announcement on [livejournal.com profile] m15m with more details, but you can look at my To Do list in the meantime.

Ooo, "The Amazing Race" is almost on.

reading about american gods in neil's journal reminds me that i would very much like to make a film version of that very book. i will not go on with my clever cast/crew ideas (though bill nighy would make a tasty wednesday), but i need to share this with someone.

carry on!

I've only recently discovered [livejournal.com profile] _hdcomic, I like it, it's very cute.

I don't have any luck with Soulseek at all, so far I've only been able to download half a song.

Am madly in love with that comic. HP fans seem to have the impeccable ability to mock the things which we base our obsessions on.

Ah, yes, I saw the playgerizm on fandom_wank. *shakes head* When? WHEN can we get these people out of the gene pool?
(Btw, I just discovered fandom_wank. Dude, its teh awesomeness. My-hed-iz-pastede-on-yay is my new saying.)

M15m book! Yay! *jumps up and down*

Yeah, FW's been on fire this week--did you see the thing about the crazy Smallville fan who was masquerading as, like, thirty different online IDs?

I will say though--it's kind of going through growing pains at the moments. Lots of people posting wanks from minors (a no-no) and we had some trolling a while back.

Yeah, that Smallville one was freaky. I thought that I had no life outside of fandom, but that girl...I mean, she could've been doing something productive like being a mod on a forum or something, but OMG, Tom Welling didnt luv her, so fand0m had 2 pay!!1!

All 3 in 15 minutes? or 15 minutes each? :)

Nominally it's the whole trilogy in fifteen minutes, but I may bust up with the strikethrough font and title that section "Lord of the Rings in Fifteen Forty-Five Minutes" or something. It'll probably end up in the middle--longer than the usual, but shorter than if I'd done all three separately.

I forgot to add a "Damn, that's crazy" in response to the plagarism issue. I mean, damn. She took a novel, changed the names, and posted the thing. And of course there is an uproar because "OMG UR SO MEEN and she's a good riter. WTF!" Crap like this enlightens me to the dangers of the internet in the wrong hands.

Oh the stupidity...

Shit. Thanks to that plagiarism link, I'm gonna have some crappy dreams tonight. Teh Stoopid is gonna haunt me...

I love original comics! Yay!

And Neil G's journal is strangely fascinating. Like Anne Rice novels.

*Avoids the rush and eagerly awaits your M15M book early...*

Am I the only one who noticed the irony of complaining about plagiarism, then using a file sharing program to download songs?

If it makes you feel any better, the downloading of songs usually ends up in my buying the CD, if it isn't something I already own anyway and just want to have an MP3 of.

I refuse to buy a CD unless I've heard at least three songs off it (unless it's an absolute favorite band that rarely disappoints). I've been burned too many times. So I'm with you on the "downloading usually ends up in my buying the CD".

But I only buy used CDs anyway, so I'm probably still superevil.

Yeah, I'll buy Garbage or Tori Amos sight unseen (sound unheard?), but that's about it. A lot of the stuff I download is from CDs I already own but can't be arsed to dig up every time I want to listen to that one song I liked. Last night I downloaded Lisa Loeb's "Do You Sleep" because I'd given the CD to my sister. And then there's that Pretenders CD I love love love but can't figure out which box I packed it in when I moved. So it's not like anyone's getting cheated out of money most of the time.

Okay, you're scaring me a little. Last night I downloaded Lisa Loeb's "Do You Sleep" because I couldn't remember where I'd put my big giant book of CDs. *eyes you suspiciously*

Yeah, most of the stuff I d/l is stuff I already own. Or it's blues stuff that's so obscure that I just can't find it anywhere else.

I've never met a Garbage/Tori CD that I didn't love.

You can be C2. Because seriously, just about anyone has less carbs than me ("Oh, wow, you went out and bought us Krispy Kremes?"), and I really admire your 0 to bitch in sixty seconds skills. No, I'm totally serious. I have more smack in need of laying down than I can really handle at the moment.

Re: Irony.

From: [identity profile] bibliotech.livejournal.com
I haven't had Krispy Kremes in months. They're like crack, with holes in the center. And I'm really showing that I don't have a definite idea of what crack actually looks like. Damn me.

I save time on going from 0 to bitch by just starting the day at bitch. It's much easier that way. And I don't have to change the oil every 3,000 miles.

Seriously, I heard that when they opened the Krispy Kreme in New York a few years back and were having to educate the populace as to their crack-addict wonders, they put out a sign that basically said, "Your first hit doughnut is free!"

Yep, it's Fiction Alley - here's the URL:

There are a couple of dead links in there, which I guess once pointed to other LJ entires.

Thank you kindly!
