maybe you'd be better off working at a more natural pace? i dunno, it just seems to me like when it comes to creative writing, if you try to rush it along before it's fully formed often doesn't do the story justice. i dont' know if you have to have it in by a certain time, but since you said "self imposed" deadlines, i assume you can take your time if you want to. but once the book's finished and published, you can't go back and edit it. so you might as well take your time and give it a chance to fulfill its potential. does that make sense? anyway, that's just my opinion.
