Hubby went to renew his license that had lapsed, and he never got the notice for. Had to jump through so many damn hoops proving who he was because of THEIR mistake (they admitted to never sending the notice because apparently they were in the middle of moving offices at the time. Um, ok, whatever.)
They wouldn't accept his DD-214 (military discharge papers), even though their website and paperwork they gave us clearly stated it was an acceptable form of ID, because they had to send it to the Pentagon for verification.
Um, what? It doesn't say that ANYWHERE on ANYTHING.
Yeah, it wasn't pretty. I refused to go back in with him the second time he went back after having his mom express mail a certified copy of his birth certificate instead (they wouldn't accept a marriage license either, go figure).
DMV seems to change their procedures yearly for gods only know why.
Also- my 33yr old SiL has her license. She doesn't drive and never has since the day she originally got it.
Claims cars are too big and she can't see over the hood. Yet.. she's exactly an inch shorter than me (I'm 5'4") so I think it's more she's too nervous/scared to.
tHey've been talking about moving to Norfolk, which means she'd have no one to drive her around when the BiL isn't home, so they've been talking about getting her a small car (WHOLE OTHER can of worms there), but I honestly don't see it happening.
