As a writer with whole folders full of old drafts, it's strangely reassuring to hear that other writers do this too. It might be rare that I'll ever look at a previous draft again, but sometimes the only way to make myself make up my mind between two different ways of phrasing the same couple of sentences is to promise myself I'll have the option of going back to the other way if I change my mind again. >.>
