Oh my god, I am so sorry about your mom! That's rough - but its great that she seems to be in such good spirits about it. I had a similar block about driving - I was in a nasty car accident at 15 - the other, meth-head driver was at fault - and just froze and freaked out when I was supposed to get in the drivers' seat after that. I would get so tense that my legs would cramp up. I didn't get my license until I was 19, when my friend starting making me drive around empty parking lots in his old VW bug. It got fun, and then it got easy. Singing along with the radio helps!
