Late night Crimbo picspam

A few things of interest (or not):

The Christmas village on the back of our piano

A less artistic overhead shot

A darkened street

My festive sleeve, which I managed not to set on fire or trail through the dip (you can also see my moonstone ring)

@alliancesjr: @cleolinda This makes me think of pre-1960 attitudes towards women and body parts. One of these days you're going to show us an *gasp* ANKLE

@cleolinda: @alliancesjr http://twitpic.com/uvgzt

@queenanthai: @cleolinda You HOOR.

Lucy at the party

What I got at the swap:

The little china cup is actually a strainer that goes in the large cup; that's a wooden spoon sitting in it. The three teas are jasmine, green, and black, and there are little compartments in the box for the teas and the metal strainer. All of this is pleasing to me, particularly since I've been drinking my tea out of a coffee mug.

And for those who asked about "movie that will be made of certain book I was buying," I gave Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (movie version to star Natalie Portman), plus a guide to zombie survival.

Love the festive sleeve!
I want one.

[identity profile] iamsmr.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't two be more useful?

[identity profile] crowsilike.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She could always start a new trend.

[identity profile] darksumomo.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:09 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, my, your readers actually get to see photos of Cleolinda herself. How exciting!

BTW, I like you taste in boots.

[identity profile] crowsilike.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I clearly need to go to bed, because I managed to read that as "boobs".

[identity profile] darksumomo.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
It's not your fault. It's the subliminal power of the icon.

[identity profile] crowsilike.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 12:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Somehow it feels fitting that the woman in question is Lust.

[identity profile] ellie-sparks.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
My grandma has the very same village, and I have to put it up for her every year (in particular, I recognize the corner of fachwerkhaus peeking out from behind the tree, and the pattern of the blocking-out of the windows). I heartily approve of it, and of your pretty, pretty sweater. Hope you and your lovely dolls are having a great Chrimboli. I imagine the Arwens are enjoying all the pretty lights and other shinies.

Happy Holidays, and I hope the new year doesn't attack you like 2009 did.

That sound you just heard was me knocking on wood for you.

[identity profile] ailaes.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
OoO... I likes your sleeve! And that tea set is for the win.

One of my friends bought me P&P&Z, and let me tell you, it's hilarious. I've not finished it yet, but the thought of a movie fills me with gigglefits.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday darlin'.

[identity profile] ruffwriter.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Awww! I'm glad my family isn't the only one with a Christmas village :D

[identity profile] guen-the-cat.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Ha! I'm drinking out of the Very Same teacup this very minute! I like mine. Only bummer is that your tea leaves have to be on the large side or else they'll just go right through the strainer holes. Thankfully, much of my favorite teas are of the larger leaf variety. I hope you enjoy the teacups as much as I do!

[identity profile] smu.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
The festive sleeve picture would make a good bookcover.

[identity profile] barrelgoddess.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Awww, I think the festive sleeve is pretty! And moonstone ring? AWESOME. But then, I'm a gem/mineral geek who used to read about that stuff endlessly.

[identity profile] glenvorian.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
I wish I was a gem geek!

[identity profile] glenvorian.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 07:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my, Cleo, that is naughty. :P

Merry Christmas! And a Merry Christmas to the dolls, too. xD

That first shot looks like the building Christian stays in in Moulin Rouge. I love it.

[identity profile] greedyskunk.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 07:25 am (UTC)(link)
I love your boots! They're kind of piratey, but not costumey.

[identity profile] acaciakitty.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 07:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I love that sleeve!

You know, if I could, I'd dress like the bastard love child of Stevie Nicks and Professor Trelawny every day of my life. It's just not practical, though.

[identity profile] theflowerthief.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
I may be missing something, but are Lucy and Bad Cat one and the same?

[identity profile] sessifet25.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 12:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Are those the little cermaic houses that you put candles in? And water in the chimneys? Because if so, that Christmas village is my ex's dream. He might actually have a complete city by now...

[identity profile] linda-lupos.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
... why would you put water in the chimneys? Is it like scented water or something so it smells good? O_o

*totally mystified by Miniature Houses Phenomenom*

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, they just have openings in the back so you can put in colored lightbulbs.

[identity profile] jabberwockpie.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 01:14 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a bit random, but Prom!Edward and Prom!Bella are on sale on Amazon for $40 each. That's low enough to get the outfit (and tiny cast) and then sell the extraneous doll on Ebay or whatever. Anyway, saw it and thought of you.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 03:25 pm (UTC)(link)
ARRRRRRGH! How can you NOT buy it at that price! FNARR.

And for those who asked about "movie that will be made of certain book I was buying," I gave Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (movie version to star Natalie Portman), plus a guide to zombie survival.

Say it isn't so!

World War Z has been in the works for a while. Screenplay is being adapted by none other than J. Michael Straczynski.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe the guy who wrote WWZ also wrote the survival guide book I gave--Max Brooks?

[identity profile] alliancesjr.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
That's the one. Both of them very good reads; the audiobook for World War Z has some A-listers in the interviews. Very high-quality stuff.

I like the disco ball tree.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could say it was TLE's idea, but we've had that for years.

[identity profile] bumblebee-1983.livejournal.com 2009-12-24 05:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Very pretty!

I don't have P&P&Z (yet), but I do have Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters, which have HILARIOUS illustrations.

Happy holidays to you and yours!

natalie portman in that movie, seriously? i like her, and this is somehow.. greatly dissapointing. i cant believe this is turning into a movie.
