Hmm, yes, I suppose I should have mentioned that the remake would also benefit from not having Bubo the Comic Relief Owl. Unless there really is no benevolent deity and that ends up being the only aspect of the film they keep.
I'm certainly having trouble seeing any connection between the plot synopsis and the story of Perseus. Fighting Hades? the Hell? I mean, sure the original film took liberties with the story, too--Calabos is obviously just a reworking of Caliban from The Tempest and Pegasus was born from the blood of Medusa when Perseus beheaded her, so obviously he shouldn't have Pegasus before he event fights her--but at least it was an awesome film.
I won't deny it was cheesy, because oh man it was, but at least it was fun and didn't insult my intelligence.
