Nothing much to report, except that I got two (small, not Super Secret) packages in the mail today (thank you, batwrangler and--Margaret? I don't know your username?--!) and I'm feeling a bit sludgy and writer's-blocky. Ah, well.

Okay, this is disturbing, and I apologise for potentially killing anyone's lovely weekend buzz, but has anyone seen this? http://laurensbite.blogspot.com/2009/01/why-i-will-always-defend-edward-part-2.html

This woman's had an Edward action-figure that has his own blog for a while. She refers to him as pocket-Edward. And yet, she's the like the Anti-Cleo. So crazy. (Shall I start with the dizzying background, hm? Her adamant stance that the character of Edward Cullen is not abusive, or a stalker? And that, even if he were, who wouldn't want to be stalked by that (?!))

I've heard of Pocket Edward--I think I linked to Twilight Lexicon mentioning her--but I've never read any of her stuff (that's my general policy, "don't read stuff that's similar to yours, it could bite you in the ass later"), so I don't know anything about how she writes him.

And yet, she's the like the Anti-Cleo.

Yeah, I was a little worried that by introducing Anti-Cleo to Cleo that something weird might happen to the space-time continuum.
The Pocket-Edward blog could pretty much be summed up as: unironic Twilight fan takes her Edward doll everywhere and takes each possible opportunity to point out she has a husband.
The Edward doll is less of a character, and more of a totem.

I don't have a husband and I don't take TLE anywhere at all, so... this is pretty much more evidence that I might be her anti-matter.

(Icon directed at Edward, obviously. I should really change it since every time I use it I have to give a disclaimer that I'm not aiming the icon at whoever I'm talking to. >_<)

Also, she vehemently insists in the first post there (about why she'll defend Edward to the end) that he isn't abusive and isn't a stalker. On abusive...well, okay. I could argue that a lot of his protectiveness goes way over the line into borderline-abusive possessiveness, but whatever.

But him not being a stalker? Even Edward calls himself a stalker. Her whole long paragraph there basically just says "He's not a stalker. Because he's not, and also because he's Edward Cullen and therefore who wouldn't want him climbing into her room to watch her sleep?" *raises hand* Me. I wouldn't.

Pay attention, kids: it's not stalking if the stalker is hot.

Yeah... that really is weird, given that he spends much of Midnight Sun CALLING HIMSELF a stalker. Dude, even he thinks he's creepy.

I had a girl in my theatre group actually tell me that. (Exact words: "If he was as hot as Edward Cullen, I wouldn't care if he climbed through my window!")

I died a little that day.
