I've gone six months without missing a day of posting, and yet I can't think of anything to say today. It was a gorgeous day--you could hear the birds singing even from inside the house--so I spent some time outside with the dogs, then came back in and got a good bit of work done. My jaw's bothering me, though; I must have been clenching it again. And... that's all I really have to report. So... what did you do this weekend?

* House and yard work, in preparation for the dog we're adopting (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v510/shadnred/Image099.jpg).

* Pet-sitting my partner's mother's three dogs.

* Driving around the Hunter Valley with two of my oldest friends, scoping out photo ops for the wedding of one of them in two weeks time. Also, knitting baby clothes for first child of the same friend (due in July).

Can you tell which of those things I'm most excited about? Yep, the new dog. We've been working with her, a day or two a week for nearly two months now, rehabbing her, and she is so damn ready for a loving family. (My partner's mother works at the RSPCA, and we've both been volunteering there.)

I spent all afternoon yesterday cleaning out the garage (success, I can get my car inside it, and after a "bulk pickup" by the garbage company) and today planting new plants in the garden beds. :)

I think the yard will look AWESOME in a couple months after everything grows in. petunias, kimonos, heather, geraniums, and a bunch of other stuff I forget. $90 at Home Depot - and everything was ON SALE. Jesus.

I started to re-read my favorite book series but was woebegone to discover that my local library's copy of the third book was checked out. Said series being Bloody Jack by L. A. Meyer, featuring an orphan girl who dresses as a boy and joins the British Navy and goes on to have four or five more books full of adventures.

We've been pretty busy this weekend. Swapped out the husband's newer iMac for my really old one, as the hard drive on mine died last weekend. Fnarr, indeed. He's happily watching Deadwood on his nifty new laptop, which replaced his old one, also around five years old, so everyone's happy. And we have a new Terabyte hard drive and have finally, finally got a backup scheme going for our data. There was a lot of swapping of various power cables and power strips and blah blah blah, but our living room no longer has insulated copper spaghetti strung all over it. Go, us.

Made waffles for breakfast. Made bread and fish stew for dinner. I wish to state that sand dabs taste fine but contain far, far too many damn bones.

This week? SPRING BREAK MUAHAHAHAHA.

yeah, my roommate and i took some *ahem* glaucoma medication, and watched it. i thought it was loltastic sober, that shit was hilarious! for some reason, the first time carlisle walks into the hospital room make us both laugh uncontrollably for, like, 5 minutes.


not that i recommend recreational use of glaucoma medication, but sometimes the situation just calls for it.

Friday morning my parents drove up from PA to visit me. I made pizzas for lunch and them my mom and I went shopping and got our nails done while my dad snored on the couch. By the time we got home it was time to make dinner and we stayed in and played Uno and Clue FX. Sat AM my parents made breakfast (oh scrapple how I have missed you) and then we went to Mohegan Sun for the day. I lost $50 at the blackjack tables but got an early birthday present in the form of a Wizard of Oz music box. Today I got up and went into work for a 24 hour shift and left my parents asleep in the apartment. They kindly took out my 3 bags of trash before they left. And now here I am with 5 hours left of work, oddly awake.

I went out to a showing of The Big Lebowski at the Bijou theater here in Knoxville. I had never seen it before, so it was super exciting. There were a lot of people dressed up like characters in the movie and the crowd would react to classic lines. I really enjoy experiencing a cult movie with a whole bunch of fans like that. It's a good feeling.

There is going to be a showing of the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre there in April. I'm going. I hope no one brings a chainsaw. ^_^

I finally watched the Twilight Movie and found the best part to be in an "extended scene" where Edward manges to unzip his jack very loudly. Causing hysterical lulz and much looping of that particular clip. Then had to watch Interview with the Vampire to remind myself what real vampires should look like.

Also finished a Twilight related project that has probably killed most a lot of my brain cells.

I spent my weekend being sick with a kidney infection and fighting with my boyfriend. To make matters worse, the idiot doctor prescribed me the ONE antibiotic that I'm allergic too, even though my chart clearly says that I have that drug allergy.

God, what DIDN'T I do this weekend. Grocery shopping. Lowe's run for stuff for the yard. Splurged on yarn at my local knitting shop (there was a sale, there was nothing I could do). Took the dogs for a long walk. Went to the local coffeehouse that night and wrote. Sunday: worked in the yard, started tomato and various flower seeds. Made banana bread. Took the dogs for another long walk. Collapsed into bed. It was a good weekend, but MAN.
