All right, last call for the Eowyn (Not Eowyn)/hardcover book auction. It'll end in about an hour.

To tell you the truth, I'm going to spend the proceeds a little differently than I had originally planned (completely on Secret Life dolls)--my mother's birthday is next week, and I'd like to get her something really nice. And I want to give to the Australian Red Cross, but I don't know how much, because every time I try to settle on a number, it's like, But these people have lost everything. You think about it and you want to give them everything you've got that isn't nailed down. But I'm to a point where I think I'll give one amount from the auction and then, when I finish the Cursed Annotations, give a larger amount from that. It's just mentally more manageable that way. So by the time you take out eBay and PayPal fees, we're probably looking at one small Secret Life addition (if that makes a difference to you when bidding). But even with just one, exciting developments are in store, I think.

ETA: Sold!

Keep in mind, the sniping programs haven't kicked in yet...

Oh, the last ten seconds should be highly entertaining.

And I want to give to the Australian Red Cross,

Yeah, I know what you mean. The good news is that the Australian dollar corresponds to more than one US dollars, so the exchange rate helps too.

I had the same feeling, that I wasn't giving enough; I wish I could afford to give more, but I truly can't. But if I've learned nothing else in the past year, it's that if enough people donate, even in small amounts, you can raise more money than you ever dreamed. You're helping to spread the word, and that's hugely important.

That said, I'm rubbing my hands with glee in anticipation of the next Secret Life of Dolls entry.

*whistles*

Dang girl, were you expecting to get that much?

Eowyn's so pretty. I'd love to add her to my Legolas and Aragorn figures (I think Aragorn is about that size. Legolas is a mini-Legolas, but still oh so hot. ;))

I am reading the Sookie Stackhouse books and was thinking of all the writing you could do with those dolls...

Sorry, but if you won't accept first-born children I just can't afford it. :(

only $50AUS each to two different charities, (Wildlife Victoria (http://www.wildlifevictoria.org.au/cms/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=43) and AWARE Wildlife Rescue (http://www.awarewildlife.org.au/)—but think of it, if everybody chipped in just what they can, that would be huge.

(And I realize $50AUS is only about $33.33US; that's why I gave twice. And they are grateful to be getting help from around the globe.)

Well, I don't, but fortunately, no one else tends to bid on the kind of things I want. Or they'll have Buy It Now as an option.

Congratulations! Now let's hope the winning bidder understands English and therefore can comprehend your description ('Now, you get one doll in one box. You do NOT get two dolls. You do NOT get MY doll. You do NOT get one doll in TWO boxes. You get THE DOLL THAT IS IN THE BOX plus my book AND NO I DO NOT ACCEPT MONEY ORDERS, NOT EVEN SPARKLY ONES so remember that's ONE doll, ONE box, ONE book, TOGETHER THEY FIGHT CRIME').

Give what you can. Also remember that at this point they're just trying to house the (I think 10,000 registered now?) people who have lost their homes into immediate relief centres. The donations are still going to be needed once the rebuilding begins, so if you're giving more later that's even MORE awesome.

(Also props on just how much you're managing to sell Eowyn and book for.)

I know what you mean about the Australian fires. I was *so* pissed at my mom when she said, "No, I won't send them money, I have no money to give! Now here's my card, go get you a couple of shirts."

I only had $7 in my bank account, but I gave $5 even though it didn't seem like much. According to a friend, though, "It would be $7.65AUD and that would buy three loaves of bread to feed the homeless or supply two families with a tube of toothpaste each or buy four bottles of water or a football so the displaced kids have something to do. So yeah every little bit helps."

On an entirely different note: I know you at least know about PotterFicWeekly, although I'm not sure if you have an account. I'm going to be directing MasterFic Theatre 4: Naked Quidditch Match if you'd like to participate! http://www.potterficforum.com/index.php?topic=4321.0

If Edward Dollen ruins my new favorite couple I will be PISSED! It will be just one reason to dislike everything Edward Cullen stands for.

He and Farimir 2 would be cute... so just, you know, suggest it to him... I'm pretty sure Edward Dollen could swing that way...

I KNOW! Imagine what an Eric Northman Doll could do for those ladies... and a Sookie Doll calling everyone out on what they are thinking... And a Bill doll sulking around... and a Jason Doll... doing... well... I don't want to go there (since they would make him a TB!Jason and not a SVM!Jason).

They need to make TB Dolls...

I have been trying to decide which of the two Dollens, and at what point, possibly would. Clearly (I finally decided), it would be the one with The Hair. And which Bella would be more like Kristen Stewart? This is why you think about these things in advance.

I'm glad the sale went well. :) I haven't been online for the past couple of weeks, so I definitely need to catch up with Shelf updates! Anyway, the reason I logged into LJ today was because I got a message from the Doll Market (because, yes, I am that much of a loser) - they have all of the Tonner Narnia dolls on sale here (http://www.dollmarket.com/search.htm?step=2&viewfrom=1&numresults=10&searchterm=narnia) (Susan is nearly 50% off), and it immediately made me think of you.
