First off, the pudding tells me that Steven Spielberg was arguing against making movies for broader audiences. I'm glad it was paying attention.

OMG I LOVE SHAHRUKH KHAN!!!!

Sorry, fangirl squee. It had to happen somewhere. (OMG, HOLLYWOOD IS FINALLY NOTICING!)

Sounds to me like Steven is regretting letting George get his greasy ham-handed franchise-killing pawprints all over Indiana Jones. Why aliens, George? Why psychic crazy sacrifice-demanding aliens? WHY??

I feel kind of sorry for Kate Winslet. I mean, yeah, she won. But she literally sounded like she was dying while she did so. What'd she do, run around the room a couple of times before getting on stage?

did you watch the DVD special where Steven talks about it? Hilarious.

"George said no more aliens. I said great! Then he said inter-dimensional beings. I said, nnngh."

I saw the film on my flight back from London, so I didn't see any of the extras. But that's awesome. It reminds me of Robert P. talking about Stephenie Meyer.

That's awesome that the people Tina Fey told to suck it were really posters! So much better than making up random internet names, which is kind of what I assumed she did!

By the time they aired them on the west coast, all the fun bits had been edited. You go, Darren Aronofsky.

I kind of wanna give a HARD eyeroll at Tina Fey for so-calledly 'telling off the haters', because it did sound so childish and immaturely rebuking.

I mean, she won this award and it's supposed to be important, isn't it? So, in her acceptance speech, did she really have to go and "tell off" a couple of people who made vile comments about her on THE INTERNET? OF ALL THINGS?

(Also, isn't the Internet's 1# Rule of Thumb for Dealing With Haters/Trolls that you do not dignify asshattery with an answer -- much less tell it/them to just 'suck it'?).

Does anyone know what the whole "Deal with it, Cate Blanchett." thing was about? It was HILARIOUS, but totally random. I loved that Tracy thanked the lady in craft services with the tacos.

Kate Winslet FTW, indeed!!!

Yeah...sorry Tina, but apparently you aren't well versed in the internet and exactly what people like btards are capable of.

Those comments were pretty tame and no worse than what a critic would say. I definitely agree that her "suck it" was just childish...and maybe if that's what she was going for it would've been funny, but it just came out like she had really been hurt by those comments and was lashing out like a bad sport.

Honestly, once Tina started doing Weekend update, I didn't find it funny anymore. She's a great writer, and her Palin was hilarious....but considering their accents are similar, pretending to be blank and ditzy isn't exactly the hardest thing to do. I don't think she's a terrible actress, but comedy acting is just not her forte.

30 Rock is so weird...I've never managed to watch it, but it seems like the only people that watch it are the critics and award committees. I've never actually met anyone who watches it irl. o.0'

Heh, well I guess this doesn't technically qualify as "real life" but I watch it and it's my favorite comedy on television. The humor's not for everyone, and it's extremely random, but I and a lot of people I know find it hilarious, and Tina Fey's excellent on it. And when she gets to do scenes with Alec Baldwin, it's unreal. I never watched her on SNL though (with the exception of Sarah Palin), so I don't really have anything to compare it to.

I know her acceptance speech rubbed some people the wrong way, but I thought it was hilarious and self-deprecating and memorable, which is what I think she was going for more than actual retribution.

I have no idea? Except that she's really white? And perceived as an (inadvertent) awards hog? But not American, so... what?

I habitually like weird shows....I was seriously one of the only people I ever knew to genuinely enjoy "Sports Night". So I keep meaning to check it out....but like I said, I mainly didn't watch it because of Tina's badness on SNL. And it was hard to trust her since even the writing on SNL hasn't really held muster (but she was writing for it when it was good too so who the hell knows). On the other hand, I looooove Alec Baldwin.

Either way, I do think that the incredible attention she got for her Palin impression was a bit harmful to her image....smart of her to retire it so quickly.

Still don't know about the acceptance speech. I guess I'm just too used to lame celebrities whining about the internet community having opinions.

Really, though, if Kate Winslet even threatens to pass out, it makes for good television. I'm sure there was at least one producer quietly praying she would, for the immense post-awards buzz.

And to win two whole awards in one night, especially after the kind of record she's had with these things, is nothing short of astounding. I think I'd be at least a little winded, if not supercrazyhyperventilating like we've just seen.

OMG Now her press nickname can be K-Win.

Sports Night! :D

If you do check out 30 Rock, I'd recommend starting with season 1 rather than jumping in with new episodes. It's good all along, but lately they've gotten just a touch bogged down with celebrity guest stars (although Jon Hamm is apparently coming on for a few episodes, which I am insanely excited about). But the writing on 30 Rock is fantastic.

But yeah, I see your point about the speech. I guess with what I've seen of her in interviews and things, I took it to be more of a joke than anything else.

I watched the clips of Kate Winslet winning, and I honestly teared up a bit when she won the second time. I think Kate has hit upon a winning formula: just keep saying you really want to win awards, and people will be more than happy to oblige.

I completely misheard him, too. Maybe it was the way he phrased the sentence? Maybe it's because I was kinda bored and not truly paying enough attention? I don't know what that was about, but I'm glad that's not actually what he said.

I agree with the tepidness of the haters. I was like, "Wow, you think that's vitriolic? Lucky woman." And of course feeding the trolls never works, but I don't think she was depicting her response as anything by small-minded and petty. That's why it was funny.

Looks like I wasn't attentive either. Whoops.
