Hmm, that does make more sense. I just remember a reference to slumping back into the sandy floor, and I took it literally, knowing SMeyer. I'll have to re-read that bit.
Bare wood sounds more comfortable than sand, but of course, vampires never get tired, so the only reason they ever stop humping is to go tend to their baby.
