I mentioned that I wanted to see Quarantine to a work colleague today and he told me to go and watch the original. I wasn't even aware that it was a remake!
But as it turns out, it's an American remake of Rec, a Spanish film that came out in 2007, or April this year in the UK. It hasn't been shown at all in the US. It's going to be released on DVD in August over here and I can't find a release date for the DVD in America?
He said that Rec was the scariest film he'd ever seen in his life - he says he had nightmares for weeks and he still gets scared thinking about it, and he's a 6 foot 3 bloke covered in tattoos and piercings - and that everybody should watch that and not Quarantine. So I thought I'd pass on the message.
And as for onscreen resemblances(sp), how about the youngest brother from Malcolm in the Middle and the blonde singer girl from School of Rock? They're the spitting image of each other, just different genders. It's too late in the evening to find pictures now, but trust me.
