ALERT ALERT ALERT

... because I am having a really bad day don't know that I'll have time for anything much more detailed. Two new trailers in HD: the new Dark Knight and Twilight.

ETA: Okay, I got as far as "You really shouldn't have said that," and suddenly everything wrong with my day was so very, very right. You know, something about this whole Twilight phenomenon really got my back up at first, but once I heard about the vampire baseball? Something crabby inside me just broke. I realized at that moment that I was going to love this movie like cake. Just... maybe not for the reasons the filmmakers intended.

Hope things get better soon!

That doesn't appear to be acid Harvey is getting dipped in, it looks more like gasoline. Are they going to burn his face?

And while there are a lot of pretty men in Twilight, Pattinson seemed to have some magnificently leaden line reading there.

I'm sorry about your day. :-(

Aww, I'm sorry you're having a bad day. Hopefully the lolarious Twilight trailer will cheer you up.

Hee. That's also the appeal of the books. A friend and I brought it with us on a roadtrip and had fun reading aloud. Nothing cheers you up around Hour 5 of driving quite like Sparkly Vampires.

As dumb as I think Twilight is, I still kinda wanna see it so thanks for linking to the trailer!

[identity profile] emisi.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
I admit to the horror of actually quite liking Twilight... but Pattinson does NOT do it for me. He's too goofy looking to be Edward. They needed a better looking actor.

[identity profile] viorica8957.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Aww, I hope your day gets better.

The Twilight trailer reminds me of The Covenant, and not in a good way. I imagine it'll make for a good unintentional comedy, if nothing else.

hope your day gets better...

Batman has me so freakin' excited I can't contain myself, while the twilight trailer just screams "horrible cliche teen fantasy"...blah

Yes! The idea of vampire baseball never fails to amuse me. How did Meyer come UP with that?

I loved the teaser trailer. His American accent is flawless, and... well, yeah. I'm impressed, considering they didn't have much time to throw it together.

I just love that the chief activity of vampires seems to be running around in the woods.

[identity profile] christwise.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
Well they're hunting for food. They're the nice vampires that don't eat humans.

The hits just keep on coming don't they?

[identity profile] christwise.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Vampire baseball is the clincher? This movie had me at "with Robert Pattinson as Edward." The guy is gorgeous.

And loving the movie for the pretty is about as deep as you're going to get with Twilight. It's told from the perspective of a girl who wants to be made into a vampire before she starts to get wrinkles. That is her chief concern.

And then there are vampires. Playing baseball.

I think the Twilight books are awful - Bella is a useless immature whiny brat and Edward is an controlling immature manipulative freak and nearly everyone else is a cardboard cutout.

That said, I kind of want to see the movie. They've made worse books into better movies before, you know. As long as Bella is less useless and Edward is less controlling, it might actually be fun.

[identity profile] christwise.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Haha, maybe without the first person narration we can try to block out all the snobby insipid Bella thoughts.

YES exactly, we can ignore how statuesque and godlike she thinks Edward is (and all the other garbage) and have some kind of actual story going on!

[identity profile] tabbyclaw.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:20 am (UTC)(link)
The last shot of the trailer just makes me think, "And then Edward leapt out the door and hurtled into a tree. Bella's neck was broken instantly. The end."

[identity profile] rebootfromstart.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
No, no -- before she gets older than her boyfriend, who's already waaaay older than her, but it would be skeevy if she kept going out with him after she was too much older than he was when he died! Clearly.

...yeah, Bella shits me.

...thank you so much for posting that trailer. I was enjoying the Twilight lulz from a distance, but that, that trailer there just... it's a thing of hilarious beauty and totally brightened my two-crap-days-in-a-row.

[identity profile] caerbannog.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you for posting both trailers. Dark Knight looks awesome. I am looking forward to Twilight chiefly so I can make icons that say, "Go cry, emo vampire" and such.

Seriously, what is with that boy's eyebrows?

[identity profile] sweet-pessimism.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, thank you for this post! I completely had no idea these two trailers were finally out!

I will die of happiness if after you see Twilight you feel compelled to write a M15M of it.. Because that would be utterly brilliant.

*Hugs* I hope you get to feeling better soon, Cleo.

I've been meaning to ask you, have you ever watched Moonlight on CBS? That's a fun little vamp show there. I'm not gonna be able to watch Sparkly Vamps In The Woods (I can't wait for your re-cap!) But I dig that show, and it's weekly! (And it has Alex O'Loughlin....rarr.)

Also, (BIG SPOILER ALERT POSSIBLE) but have you seen Harvey after the...whatever-the-hell happens to his face?

I think, to tons of us, this isn't about the books at all. It's the Power of RPattz.

(it's so nice to be able to be a fangirl, even at my age. I'll be 85 and happy of things like this)

[identity profile] lotuseyes.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I want to cry everytime I see another Twilight trailer. Not because I'm not going to see it (hello Cedric much? Cedric as a vampire? i'm there), but because I'm going to sit through that movie and list out every thing that was different from the books. not because I should, or because I want to, but because my OCD little mind will scream with rage that two conflicting but similiar events are happening and my brain won't be able to handle it without going 'gahhhhh'). So far in my life out of ALL the book to movie movies I have seen I've only read one of the original books first (that being Narnia) and at that about a decade before and more, so it wasnt' fresh in my mind. Twilight is fresh (if only because I am re-reading it for two different groups and with a friend) and will bug me.

that said did you read the books?

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-05-06 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I saw that earlier today. I'm actually getting leery of linking to anything relating to Harvey Dent, because Aaron Eckhart blithely mentioned something in an article I saw today that's actually kind of a huge spoiler if he means what I think he means.
