A very few quick things--I missed only one day updating in January (which still galls me--I thought maybe I'd shoot for perfect attendance in 2008), and there's something about posting on the first day of the month that seems auspicious, you know? So, anyway, before I get back to reading The Victorian Underworld (yes, I am the kind of person who wants to know how counterfeiters made and passed off fake coins), a teensy bit of linkspam:

Awww, [livejournal.com profile] ihasatardis has some [livejournal.com profile] m15m-inspired Doctor Who macros. FYI, anything along this line--as long as there are "here are the parodies each line came from" credits, as was done there--is fine by me.

Michelle Williams releases statement, says heart broken over Ledger; Sean Penn, Christian Bale, Jake Gyllenhaal and Johnny Depp may help out with 'Imaginarium.'

Paparazzo quits job over treatment of Britney. "It’s become acceptable to drive at 80mph down the wrong side of the street into oncoming traffic. I was horrified at what goes on. It’s so aggressive, there are fights and crashes and slashed tyres. I felt I needed to say something."

Microsoft bids $44.6 billion for Yahoo. I feel a deep and nameless unease at this news. Maybe because the people who brought us Vista may now take over my primary email provider.

Sarah Silverman Is "Fucking Matt Damon" [Clips] ("Watch it all the way through, because the hip-hop influenced breakdown is the best").

New Super Bowl trailer for Prince Caspian online.

From [livejournal.com profile] padawansguide: New hi-res Indiana Jones and The Other Boleyn Girl stills.

From [livejournal.com profile] suburbangoth: "Not sure if you've already seen this, but hypeful.com compiled a downloadable soundtrack for Cloverfield."

Over Her Dead Body: The "Worst Romantic Comedy Ever" [Critical Mass]. Well, given that the commercials make me want to stab myself in the eye, I can't say I'm surprised.

ETA: I almost forgot! You must go vote in [livejournal.com profile] snacky's Third Annual Snack Food Deathmatch, and also: a long conversation in the comments about why you don't actually need to buy a TV for the new HD TV age--not that electronics stores want you to know this.

This makes me so very, very, very happy...

Right now, I'm trying to decide if this makes Matt Damon a) half as awesome or b) twice as awesome.

It really really is. I kind of love Matt Damon a lot.

That Sarah Silverman video had me screaming with laughter. WIN.

One of the coolest things about Matt Damon--even aside from the fact that he's a very talented actor--is that he's willing to do crazy stuff like this, just because it's funny. He doesn't take himself too seriously, which is a nice change from the usual Totally Handsome Actor Type Guy. Also? He turned down that sexiest man award, which shows remarkably good taste.

Possibly! But, on the other hand--he always seemed so nice, and innocent, and in a way Iwantedtobehismum...

Okay, I really hope you haven't already posted this and I just missed it...I don't think so, though, because Reno's news tends not to be national.

The Westboro Baptist Church, in between harassing the Ledger family, apparently had time to come to Reno, NV and protest our "wickedness" at the memorial of a fallen soldier from our area. Apparently their little darlings got a little roughed up by some bikers who were there to support the soldier and his family. This caused the WBC to release a press statement condemning Reno and which opened with statements about Brianna Denison's disappearance and the supposed wrath of God reigning down upon Reno and causing this.

I linked to the paparazzo quitting and Silverman's latest song, too! It was a nice day for low-key entertainment news yesterday!
