I forget who had a link to launch.yahoo.com, but it is marvelous, and I have set up my own radio station. (Not only that, but my taste in music is SO BAD that I'm not evening telling you my username.) Here's how smart Launch is: I'm just playing around with it right now to get some songs rated and get my preferences settled in, and already the thing is feeding me--unasked--Blondie, David Bowie, multiple Lord of the Rings tracks, and--OMG PET SHOP BOYS I LOVE THIS SONG EEEEEEEE!

Dude, this thing is starting to freak me out.

So basically, I'm sitting here giggling every time a new song comes on, and dancing in my chair every time I think of someone new to add ("OMG MOULIN ROUGE!!"). This almost makes up for Kazaa becoming useless.

(Okay, "Rush Rush" just came on and I actually blurted out, "Hee hee!" I told you I have hideous taste.)

ETA: Okay, I've settled in a bit. It's still pretty awful, and the artists/genres on the front page don't reflect the entire selection, but I'm dailydigest.

Wow. Just wow. Thanks for the recommendation. I might actually sit here all night just to see what it plays me next, because so far, it's been spot on.

Is it not just the best? "Love Is a Battlefield" just came on and I nearly fell out of my chair with squee. Once I get some more artists rated, I may actually give out my user name and ask for other people's--you can add other people as "influencers" or listen to their stations--but right now mine's sort of lopsided with guilty pleasure stuff.

I'm sayin'! I went through my MP3 folder and plugged in all the people I liked, then specific albums I liked, then all the random songs I liked. Every now and then I've gotten something completely off ("Pink Floyd?"), but if you waste spend enough time rating things, it starts to get crazy spot-on. That, and it's feeding me songs I don't even know (because I'm out of touch, basically), and I like those, too.

If it's any help my taste in music has never known to set new, innovative standards in quality, either. Will check out yahoo and see what it's like.

I want your username!

I've just been sitting here playing around with it for that past thirty minutes, I think I may have a new addiction. New internet toy!

Is it not the funnest thing ever? And I haven't even started up with the music video channel yet.

All right, I think I've pushed the more embarrassing stuff off my front page--pay no attention to my "genres" list, because it only lists the most recent you've added, and makes me look like I listen to nothing but Britney and ABBA. (Ooo, ABBA...) I'm dailydigest (http://launch.yahoo.com/launchcast/station.asp?u=1248759769), which is my Yahoo username/email. Y'all were going to figure it out anyway...

I am having far too much fun. I just squee-ed because Placebo came on.

This should be me (http://launch.yahoo.com/launchcast/station.asp?edit=1&u=1294073314) but I've only just started - so much more to add!

Heee. Yeah, I nearly fell out of my chair when Paula Abdul came on, because I have baaaaaaaad taste. Oh, and don't forget to look up movie soundtracks--they have FOTR and ROTK (but not TTT...?) and Moulin Rouge. I'm still looking for others...

Kill Bill soundtrack is on there if you're interested - I shall have to add Moulin Rouge.

I used to watch the Paula Abdul video for Rush Rush because Keanu Reeves was in it...
*hangs head in teenage-girl-crush shame*

OMG I DID TOO.

(Did you ever notice how, at the very very end of the video they're kissing, and it's like the camera doesn't cut away soon enough, because they start laughing?)

I can beat you at the shame game, though: I also watched it because I just loved the song.

At least you don't check out oldies from the early '90s, hoping to see Elijah Wood as a four-year-old executive breaking a pencil for "Forever You Girl".

I mean, I'm not crushing on the whole underage thing. I'm crushing on the now. But then? SOOO cute.

Me? SOOO pathetic.

Except that I totally dug that up on Kazaa, too. You are not alone in your shame.
