So people wanted more icons from the new POTC3 posters, and I didn't want to start cleaning, so icons it is. Just very simple cropping, playing around with black space, no big deal. Ransack the folder, there's about 30 there; take what you want, no problems.

And don't you dare fuss at me for spoiling the presence of Jack Sparrow in the movie. They're going out to the ass-end of nowhere to fish his ass out of purgatory or the kraken or whatever, that is the stated premise as of the last five minutes of the second movie. They're not going to just not find him. "Yeah, uh, Mr. Depp, could you come down here and hang out in the Caribbean for a couple of months? No, you're not going to be in the movie; we just wanted to throw people off." (This isn't directed at anyone commenting on the previous entry at all, by the way. I've just had people jump down my throat before about revealing "spoilers" in icons.)

People will say *anything* is a spoiler, in my experience. I would totally understand if they got mad if it were revealed how Jack comes back, because we have no idea if he'll just cut his way out of the kraken or they'll have to raise him from the dead or what. But... seriously, it's a poster. It's not telling you anything, except that maybe there's going to be a lot of fog.

hey you seem like a great person to ask this :D I heard loads of rumours that Orlando Bloom's char wasn't going to be in this movie, something about trying to keep costs down etc. But I see his pic in your icons, so now I'm thinking they're really just rumours. Any ideas?

It's like the people who complained that writing the title of the HP7 book is a spoiler. Um, no, Deathly Hallows is not a spoiler.

Now if it was a picture of Norrington with "I had sex with Jack Sparrow" on his chest, I'd die of squee say that's a spoiler.

You know, it's funny you should mention it because my sister heard that Keira Knightley wasn't going to be in the third one. I have no idea where the rumors on either one are coming from--the way the second movie is set up, everyone has to be in the third movie because of all the plotlines they have to resolve. Will has to kill Davy Jones and set his father free, Will and Elizabeth have to get married, etc. And even if they don't succeed, at least the fact that they tried and failed has to be addressed. So no, Bloom and Knightley pretty much have to be in it. I haven't seen any shots of Bloom on set, though, but I've seen shots of just about everyone else.

I have always said that Barbossa would have gone down in history as the best movie pirate ever, if it weren't for stupid sexy Captain Jack. And he's still the best old-school non-swish movie pirate ever. Of course, I also believe that Geoffrey Rush is the herald of all good things, and I also have a weird theory that it was Tia Dalma that Davy Jones loved (okay, that's not the weird part), but because she was "as changing as the sea," she left him for Barbossa. Which is why she would have his body in her shack before anyone even needed him to come back. Or something.

I want his body in my shack. We've been fiddling around with that theory. We figured Tia Dalma and Barbossa might have made a deal along the lines of what's going on now: that if Barbossa should die, Tia Dalma would bring him back from the dead. He of course never had a chance to call in the favour because he was cursed thereafter with his living death aboard the Pearl. We assumed that Ragetti and Pintel collected Barbossa's body and brought it back to Tia Dalma.

I don't know if that works, though, because we're kind of given to believe that all the pirates who weren't immediately killed were captured by Norrington at the end of the first movie, and P&R are shown escaping at the beginning of the second movie. Although I still wonder how they hadn't been hanged yet (since Will and Elizabeth seem to have been engaged a while, if he "taught her to handle a sword"), and if they weren't hanged because they were let go and they just got locked up again later, why weren't they hanged? There's a whole mess of unanswered questions floating around those two.
