At 14, I wouldn't say that your cat is going senile - bit too young for that. she could just be getting lazy though in elderly age, or just going senile early. My cat is now 20, and has been slowly going senile for the last 6 months. She'll stand around and yowl at the wall, for example. It's rather amusing. *grin* However, it's a good day that she makes the box. Whilst she generally gets near the box, we've taken to putting down newspaper under the box, because it's a good day when she manages to pull herself inside her box and piddle in it. She'll get in it, but not realise that her arse just ain't aiming in the box. She used to be an outdoor cat, so her making the box is pretty good.
I'd ask your vet too. Might as well get some advice. :)
