I was going to wait until Monday and give people the weekend to read, but what the hell: spoiler discussion entry for the last Snicket book if you want it. Which means that there will be naked spoilers in the comments. Also, if you just deeply need to know exactly what happens without actually reading the book, there's a pretty thorough summary of the book at Wikipedia.
