Dude, have I not updated all week?

I think the problem is that I don't have much to report. I'm sort of bobbing along, cleaning and writing and reading and laundering and listening to the Pirates of the Caribbean commentaries, which I had never gotten around to before. I should go see Superman, and in fact I'm supposed to, but... eh. It's summer, it's mellow, whatever.

I did, however, write 2600 words today, and that was exciting. I've been kind of wrestling with some plot logistics--who knows what when, and how they find it out, and is the "how" feasible, and are their reactions appropriate--so it feels good to get through some of that.

Slightly stale linkspam:

Table of Condiments That Periodically Go Bad (hee, Pb and Jñ).

Scottish actor goes from "Phantom" to vampires. Or from vampires to vampire hunting, for those of you more familiar with his filmography.

Rowling says 2 more characters than she intended die in final Potter book; one gets a reprieve. Again, this would have been more earthshaking five days ago.

[livejournal.com profile] katesti: "I probably should have mentioned this before today, but when you get a chance, can you remind people that today (6/27) is National HIV Testing Day? I've got a post in my LJ about it here." Oops...? Get tested anyway, y'all.

[livejournal.com profile] hahafandom: A community for fannish humor. I probably won't (or can't) read anything linked there, as a matter of legal self-protection, but that doesn't mean y'all shouldn't enjoy it. Besides, they recommended me in the first entry. ; )

Can I just point out that Rowling didn't say 2 characters die? She says two characters she didn't intend to kill die... Lord only knows how many she actually intended to kill from the beginning!

Oops--I pasted that link in earlier in the week, and at the time, the article I read made it sound like "only two." Of course, since then I've seen enough who-will-die discussion to know better, but I forgot to change the link text.

Lol, no worries, just don't want everyone to go nuts trying to figure out two when known JK it's probably more like fifty. So many poor kids are going to be traumatized when that book comes out. Heck, I'm twenty and I'll bet money I'll be traumatized!

A Priest movie. XD I'd heard jokes, but I didn't think they would actually make one.

I love the Jack Davenport commentary for Pirates because he complains about how cool everyone's wigs were except for his, which looked like an ice cream sundae.

I love the Pirates commentary with Jack and Keira. Particularly their jokes about Orlando's anvil.

I was too lazy to try and beat my own dungeon. I should give it another go.

I love that one. I hate that it's not them blabbing on through the whole movie, but on the plus side, it's a quick viewing if you're not in the mood for all 2-1/2 hours. Also, I enjoy Keira squealing over Johnny and Orlando. "Come closer, Johnny! Come closer!"

I just move away from anything with more than half the HP I do at the time, quite frankly. You can get away from just about anything as long as you don't end up in a cul-de-sac with a monster who blocks your way.

YES! THAT was the line I had forgotten, but I *KNEW* there was something else that was awesome. Oh, I'm so saying that when Norrington walks on screen, HUZZAH.

the thing is: 'Cleolinda the goblin' has about 18HP and yet 'she' gets to kill me while I'm 30HP and sporting a shield or an armour. my new strategy is going to be 'move away from anything with more than half the HP I do at the time AND from 'Cleolinda the goblin', whatever their HP'. :p

I would also figure that the chances to find a nice amount of helpful potions and/or goodies and/or not-super-nasty-mosters depend on how large the 'dungeon master''s friends/interests lists are. or... not. (?)

Oh, and I love how the medallion "calls" to the Black Pearl near the beginning of the movie, and he's like, "I never noticed that before!"

Congrats for keeping your nose to the grindstone. There's nothing better than writing when it's hard to do.

Hey~ I'm a total lurker (and have too many lj usernames) but I wanted to tell you: I'm on a trip to England and I JUST bought your book! It was so exciting to see it, and living in the US I had delaying ordering it, but I definitely wanted it. Bravo! And sorry I'm like a thousand years behind everyone else who got it... But it made my day.

Nonsense, you just have to multiply it out to get whole numbers. If you start with 0.7 Pb, 0.3 J, and 2 bread (Br), you get the following:

Pb7J3Br20

Voila!

How does one get more HP?

Date: 2006-07-02 06:04 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
You have to find a shrine to pray to--"Pray to [Name]" will either get you nothing, 10 more hp, or 10 less hp ("A bolt of lightning!"). I've found a couple where you never get struck by lightning, so if I run into one of those, I just sit there clicking until I've worked up 100-160 HP.

Actually, what I love the most about that commentary is how babbly it is. I would love to hear them babble through the whole thing. I think it's hilarious because that's what *I* do during movies, and here we have the awesome Keira Knightley and Jack Davenport doing the same thing.

I just like listening to their accents, quite frankly. That, and they seem to be having so much FUN. That's really what I want out of my commentaries--multiple people in a room giggling, with accents if possible. The technical stuff, that can go in documentaries, where you get visual aids as well.

Well. I loved to look at Gerard in Attila. I think I'll rent "Dear Frankie" while I'm on vacation.

Now, if I were in the business, I'd cast both Gerard and Clive Owen in something. And expire upon viewing the results.
