but it was implied that the only reason she said she didn't want a baby was because she was planning to leave the baby daddy! i don't think it has anything to do with not wanting kids at all..

I really wanted it to be tomatoes and some nice, crispy bacon.
Just off the top of my head, the times I recall Sun and Kate being friendly all revolve around issues with Jin. In the first season, Kate was the first to figure out that Sun spoke English (Michael already knew, but that's cause Sun told him). Sun asked Kate, "Have you never lied to a man you love?" Then there was the whole plot to keep Jin from leaving on the raft, which wound up poisoning Michael, and Kate was a party to. Then there was the beginning of this season, when Sun lost her wedding ring and Kate helped her find it, and they discussed how they were both worried about the raft because of the bottle washing up on shore.
It's always the plants that suffer.

At the end of the episode that introduced Henry Gale (it was the Sayid flashback one), the two of them were sitting on the beach. Sayid told Charlie about how he had beaten Henry senseless, and knew Henry was hiding something. He said something about how people seem to have forgotten how dangerous the Others are, and basically implied that Charlie would be a good ally, since he was almost killed by Ethan. I think since then Charlie has latched onto him.
Oh and also there was the season finale, where they ran off to find Danielle and Aaron.

There's some speculation that it's Dharma-related (the maker was Widmore Labs, and there was a Widmore Construction in another episode), so my guess would be the hatch.
