I still don't think it's that much of a stretch for nobody to have made the connection. I don't think the name is something most people would instantly recognize.

Are You There, God? It's Me, Margaret.

Maybe it's a "bonding over having lost women they loved" thing. In different ways, but still.

Heh. I called him "weird gay stereotype Jin," but that works too.

Jesus stick.

And make me reflect that, if you squint, Bernard does kinda look like the midget from Twin Peaks.

Qu'est-ce que c'est?

Enh, I thought her demeanor made it pretty obvious to him that she was hiding something extra. And he's sanctimonious like that.

Sorry, I was quoting Talking heads. I've had "Psycho Killer" running through my head all day, and that's the next line of the chorus. :)

[identity profile] punkiejeannien.livejournal.com 2006-03-23 05:49 am (UTC)(link)

I think the writers got smacked around by nuns a little too hard when they were in catholic school. It's the only logical explanation.

Dharma Flakes toy surprise = little airplane.

Best icon ever for "Lost" discussion. :P

[identity profile] tabbyclaw.livejournal.com 2006-03-23 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, but if he's playing the "kill me and you'll never see them again; mine is an evil laugh" angle? It makes sense to outline everything.

[identity profile] tabbyclaw.livejournal.com 2006-03-23 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
"Mom! Dad! Stop putting me in the middle!"

The Island = Emerald City.

Amen.

I don't know anyone that hasn't seen Wizard of Oz though. Maybe most people wouldn't remember Henry's name... but I'm a theater person, so maybe that's why it hits me like a 10 story neon sign.

[identity profile] tabbyclaw.livejournal.com 2006-03-23 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I've seen Wizard of Oz a million times, but if you'd asked me what Dorothy's last name was before all this happened, I'd have stared at you blankly for several minutes and probably have come up with it eventually. Without any sort of prompting, even with "Hunh. Balloon." I'd never make the connection.

*whew* So glad to know I'm not the only one...

I'm thinking that it would be awful fitting if they had a daughter. We've got the mother with her garden in a place where kidnappings are not unusual. We've totally got a potential set-up for a Persephone-dragged-to-the-underworld where really, it isn't so bad at all, kind of thing.
