So we've bought pumpkins, and I've finished The Lamplighter, my mom knocked the crap out of her hand, I got mauled by the cat, and I'm going to take a post-lunch nap before I get to work on another project.

Quite simply, one of the funniest Harry Potter icons I have seen out there.

[livejournal.com profile] shoiryu mentions a friend who "does Lost fanart, among other things, so it might be of interest to a bunch of people in your direction. This is the link."

[livejournal.com profile] narniabound: Lorrie Moore's How to Become a Writer, or Have You Earned That Cliché? It's very good, and seems to have struck a deep chord with a lot of people, but my experience as a writer has been very different--not better or easier, just different. I'll have to tell you about it some time, but it involves all those teachers I thanked in the acknowledgements of the book and--if I'm very honest about it--Louisa May Alcott.

Voldemort reborn or a Death Eater mask? Good Lord almighty.

(I'm not saying I'm an obsessive enough fan that I could recognize Ralph Fiennes by nothing but his eyes, but... I wouldn't be surprised if that were really the Voldemort makeup.)

[livejournal.com profile] corkdorkdan found a nifty meme. The first one is this journal; the second is the [livejournal.com profile] m15m journal. Warning: if you have a paid account, and thus two available URLs, put in the www.livejournal.com/users/whatever one--I put in cleolinda.livejournal.com and came up with $0.00.

See? Comics are turning children into vigilante killers. I think it's time to finally ban the filth.

My copy of your book came yesterday!! I absolutely love it, and I would have read all of it by now, but I want to save some for tomorrow. That way I can bring it to school to read and make all my friends jealous.

I love the cover design, by the way. Is it the same person who did Anthony Lane's "Nobody's Perfect"?

You know what? Instead of buying a costume, I'm just going to print out that picture of maybe-Voldie and tape it to my face. Probably scarier than anything they have for cheap at Party City.

And heh, I like the Halloween-themed background on your lj :)

I put it in with a ~ instead of /users and got squadoo. With the full URL, I got US$1,129.08. Just a PSA.

Louisa May Alcott? I have to admit that I think my first inkling that I wanted to be a writer was being 8 and so identifying with Jo, although I didn't realize I wanted to really write until I was 15.

I think I could probably recognize Ralph Fiennes only by his eyes-- though I am, by no stretch, an obsessive fan of his, I think his eyes are the most distinctive part of him.

That being said, after seeing that pic:
a) Didn't recognize the eyes.
b) Er, yay recurring nightmares?

Hope you feel better. Is it the same place you got cat-mauled before? If so, you could make the marks part of a great Halloween costume...

I came across this icon (http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/35499932/770238) a couple of weeks ago, and I found it quite funny. But pitifully enough, I can't remember who it was that was using it (it's a miracle I was even able to find the icon itself in my history)
Also, [livejournal.com profile] xxestellaxx's drawn Harry Potter icons tend to be hilarious. (three pages of them here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/xxestellaxx/342674.html))

Speakinf of icons though, that Abominations unto the Lord one... amuses me a little bit too much. Mainly because a rather annoying biblethumper at a forum I go to has the exact same bunny photo in her signature banner. It makes me so tempted to drop a link to that icon around her.

Also, I hope that's not really Voldemort, I prefer the snakey Voldie in my head over that skelly Vodie.

OMG I LOVE LORRIE MOORE.

The end.

No, not the end. Lorrie Moore is awesome, and you should read everything by her ever.

... I wouldn't be surprised if that were really the Voldemort makeup.

It's not. I read a Word document of production notes for the movie (I can't remember where I got it... leaky-cauldron, maybe?) that describes post-cauldron Voldie, and he sounds pretty much like the book's version. Red eyes, pale skin, snake-ish nose, etc.

Argh! Scary. Though I still think the Death Eater hoods are horribly cheesy. Like, "We are ominous with our KKK reject hats and our overly-gruesome haunted house leftovers! BWAHA!"
