Just a couple of things before I go forage for my nuncheon:

"Kansas Police Make Arrest in BTK Killings." Oh, WHOA. I was just reading up on this case earlier this week. This is big stuff, and if they really did catch the guy--you're going to be hearing a lot about him.

A different kind of crazy: poor Jenna Elfman, her brain has been et by Scientology. The article is notable in that it explains more about Scientology, and in a snarkier way, than most articles do. What's a "body thetan"? Wonder no longer.

This just in: yay presents! Tim Tams from

redyu (thank you thank you thank you!) and something cylindrical! From I know not who! And I know not what! Because I'm going downstairs to get some scissors, and possibly a blowtorch! Whee!

I've been following this case for a couple of years, and I was horrified when he began sending his letters out again. So many things about BTK just stand out in serial killer literature, and this finale is absolutely amazing--he goes on a spree, vanishes for twenty years, then suddenly reappears . . . and is caught. This is almost the Jack the Ripper of our times. It would be fascinating if they could get him to talk.

In another he complained, "How many do I have to kill before I get my name in the paper or some national attention?"

I don't think we're going to have a problem getting him to talk.

The problem will be getting him to shut up, then. If they're talkative, they'll confess to everything from the Kennedy assassination on down. www.catchbtk.com has a check list compiled by a professional profiler, and it's pretty specific. It'd be so cool if they could confirm even half of the list.

Am I too excited about a serial murderer? Yes I am. I'll shut up now. I've got to finish typing up this letter to Jodie Foster.
