i saw a very short preview when i went to the movies a couple weeks ago. it was just the big "PANIC" button and then the earth blowing up.
You saw the teaser. This is an actual trailer with content.
Snaffled from my comment to
sweinberg:
Did he call Trillian Trisha? Weird.
Looks pretty nice. The tone looks to be just about right: it's not too over-the-top, it's just serious enough that the humor can be understated when it needs to be.

Remember, though, her name on Earth was Tricia McMillan.
And it does indeed look nice. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Lmao. May actually not turn out like I thought. It might just be the fact that I just woke up, but I actually laughed quite a lot during the trailer. XD
Gotta wonder how Amazon has that before the movie's own website...but not oo much. It does look spiffy.
ok, help me out because i'm being really thick (for a change). where is the trailer? i've seen it linked all over the place but everytime i click it goes to an amazon search place about the books and i cant see anywhere to view a trailer. am i that much of a dumbass? (dont answer that)
Weird--I go there and it's all like "Now Playing on Amazon.com: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" and the trailer's front and center. All you have to do is press play. Maybe you need to sign up with them for an account...?
Vaguely annoyed that not everyone is British and that I didn't get to hear Alan Rickman's voice as Marvin. But yes, cautiously optimistic would describe me as well. It looks... promising. I'm reserving judgement until I've actually seen the thing, though. Until then I'm just going to sit here and cuddle my well-worn copies of the books.
!! Rickman?! Okay, I'm just gonna be sitting over here in my corner and squeeing for the next ten minutes. I was all cranky when I heard they'd refused the idea of using the original Marvin's voice in the movie, but if there is one person in the world that could do Marvin aside from that original voice guy, it's so Alan Rickman. Wheeee~
(Uh, yeah. I'm a fangirl. I'm not quite sure when this happened, but it did. Tragic, innit? *sigh*)

Ooh, looks promising.
(Now I have to go re-read the books)

This makes me so very very very very HAPPY!!!!!!!
Thanks for the link.
Where's Zaphod's other head?
And in the book AND the radio series AND the TV series, Arthur is surprised to learn that Ford doesn't come from Guildford as he claims. Movie!Ford could never claim to be from Guildford. Not successfully, anyhow.
Not. Happy.
*wanders off, muttering*

There's a quick scene in the trailer where it looks like he can switch out the two heads. One goes in, the other comes out.

Dude. Dude. Duuuuuuuuude.
So excited yay.

Arthur's alarm goes off at 7:42. Oh snap.
Who sets their alarm for 7:42? I mean why that exact number? I know its a reference but still, realistically who would do that? I'm a picky picky man today...
I squeed so hard. I know people have had problems with the casting (specifically Mos Def as Ford, with the (as my brother says) "But Mos Def is a rapper! Ford's not bla- What? I wasn't saying anything" mentality), but I was won over by the trailer. I've been looking forward to it in a cautiously optimistic way, and now I'm saying screw caution, I'm going to enjoy it, British actors or not.
Also, Zaphod's third arm and second head! Wheeee!!!!

Eee, love your icon. I *heart* that video.
Ain't It Cool News (http://aint-it-cool.com/) has two spoilerific reviews of the movie. They saw two rough but full versions of it. It explains the two heads thing a little and talks about how the movie deviates from the book. And remember: the book in no way resembles the radio shows which in no way resembles the TV show. The author talked about that in the intro of one of his books. I suppose that fits in nicely with the crazy universe he created!
EEE! I'm so very excited. Though - it's coming out April 29th now? Interesting.
Oh. My. God. Oh. My. God. Oh. My. God.
Zaphod's head = coolest thing ever.
I heard a rumor they were going to explore the relationship between Trillian and Arthur more, which I hope is good.
I... cannot.. WAIT.

*dies* <3 your icon! Though it can be taken as either incredibly devout or hopelessly blasphemous... ah, the blurring of lines.
Okay, before I saw this I was all "*twitch twitch* WTF. MOS DEF AS FORD?!", but now I can't say I mind. He might be good.
But Zaphod's second head scares me. Its like, "BLAM! *head pops up!*"
And the Vogons remind me of that perverted alien-dude from Farscape.

Mod Def is a good actor. He was in a movie called Something the Lord Made with Alan Rickman and performed well, and he was also in Monsters Ball. Having musical ability doesn't mean you are by default void of acting ability.
Looks better than I expected...but I'll have to see when it actually comes out.
Every single bit of the trailer filled with me optimisim. I wish I could have heard Rickman's voice but... it looks fantastic and I'm so, so overwhelmed with joy for it. Hitchhiker's Guide was one of those books I loved as a kid so if they fuck this up...
It looks great. I'm impressed with Mos Def, too.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so verrah, verrah excited!!!
The day after my birthday, whee! I can't wait! I should at least skim through the first book before it comes out, though, it's been years since I've read it.
Am I the only one who's somehow reminded of Galaxy Quest (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0177789/)? Not in a bad way, though.
*squeaks with happiness*
I wore my 'Heart of Gold' shirt today before I even knew the trailer was going to go up. I think it's karma...or something.

Whee! Thank ya, Cleo, for putting that trailer up. That looks to be a good time :)
Umm, I dunno. I can't shake the feeling they 'Americanized' it (aka 'dumbed it down') with slap-shtick and whatnot. Doesn't seem to have the same feels as the books or the miniseries.
