An update on Jillian and her sick mom Christina: They're trying to get on ABC's Extreme Home Makeover, and as a little extra push, Jillian's set up a petition. It's mostly a way to show support and chime in that it is, in fact, a worthy cause, and I think this is one of the few times that a petition might actually have any influence. Bad Penny is sort of sponsoring the petition, you might say, so that's where the link goes--more information is there.

Another new book I definitely want to look into: "The Secret Life of Houdini: The Making of America's First Superhero will be released on Halloween — the anniversary of Houdini's untimelydeath at age 52. Chasing new information on the elusive superstareventually led authors William Kalush and Larry Sloman to create adatabase of more than 700,000 pages...."

Meanwhile, I am about two minutes from actually going to see The Prestige (EXCITING), and I plan on soaking in pretty men for two hours, so the first person to ask if I'm going to write a 15 Minutes will be summarily noodlesmacked. (Big lasagna noodles, I'm thinking.) That's not the kind of decision I can make until after I've seen the movie, it's stressful to watch it with the intent of parody, etc. Let me enjoy this, y'all.

If I sound weirdly defensive, well--I'm going to blame it on the rain Mercury retrograde, because that explains (to me, anyway) why I've felt like a raging psychopath for about two weeks. I've basically been fighting the urge to slap innocent bystanders even as I'm half-standing outside myself going, "You know, you're really being kind of irrational about this," and then someone says they've always wanted me to do a parody of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, why don't I do that, and I'm being dragged away in restraints again.
