Jul. 16th, 2004 03:04 pmI woke up really late this morning and realized I was really congested--ew, summer cold--and then watched two hours of "I Love the '90s" with Sister Girl, and I am just now (1 pm) getting to my computer. Yar.
I totally forgot to say happy birthday to
brassyn and
hawleygriffen earlier this week, because I am delinquent. Happy birthday!
You know you've made it when you get your own colorbar.
And here's something to think about: Flashdance was just a touch before my time, in that I was basically a toddler, but we saw it on VH1 a couple of weeks ago, and all of a sudden I want the soundtrack. So I'm listening to "What a Feeling" on MP3 (shhhhh), and I realize that I can't understand half the lyrics. I mean--okay, you listen to it. "I can really have it all/ ________ come alive when I call." What? I eventually broke down and googled "Flashdance lyrics," so I know what it really says now, but I swear the backup singers are saying "Bitches come alive when I call." This is a power I want. I think it would come in handy.
"BITCHES!"
*flash of lightning*
"RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!"

I want to read the King Arthur parody, but I still haven't seen it. Woe. Tomorrow, if I'm lucky.

Date: 2004-07-16 01:36 pm (UTC)Funniest/most disturbing line in the movie (or at least the most memorable): "Bitches, Come!" whereupon several buxom bikiniklads bounce onto the screen.
Its quite the jaw-dropper, and you end up staring at the screen wondering if they somehow suddenly switched the reel to Conan the Barbarian. Though i suppose they would need to have the leopard-skin bikinis from the Flintstone fashion lineup for that.
come to think of it XXX would make a great m15m. They have lots of silly lines, and silly props like x ray glasses, and snowboarding down avalanching hills and doomsday devices. Prime stuff.
Too bad "Bulletproof Monk" didnt stay in theatres longer. It was infinitely mockable, but since so few people saw it it doesnt make good m15m fodder. Really though, how can one go wrong with evil Nazis, infernal machines that include both touch screens AND rushing water (a la princess bride), not to mention your classic rooftop showdown and decent martial arts. Fun.

This would be very handy with the school year staring in *twitchshudder* 3 weeks. They would fit in with some of the other girls at school...whoops, did I say that?

Date: 2004-07-17 06:21 pm (UTC)The 'only the good die young' category is sooo true. Equilibrium was fantastic, and should have received many many awardlike objects. In fact, i would humbly disagree with your 'best action sequence' award in favour of the scene in Equilibrium where the guy has The Best Gunfight Ever in the alley with the cops and the shotguns and the backflipping over the motorbike and wow. We couldnt even continue to watch the rest of the movie without replaying it 6 times (twice at frame-by-frame). Sooooo cool.
I usually Hate gunfight scenes, but that made me a believer.
