I agree with fanofall. Maybe your anonymous flamer was using the phrase "you should be put down" not to mean "you should be euthanized," but to mean "you deserve a scathing put-down." Except he or she couldn't think of one.

It's much like the fine shade of difference between "I think your stuff is sh*t" and "I think your stuff is THE sh*t."
