I think it's partly because it's Facebook. It has its fingers in everything now, and I think there's a fear at some point we won't be able to make choices like we can now (even if doing so currently is a pain, there's still the option to turn off Facebook Connect, etc).

Personally I'm annoyed because the facebook plugins everywhere make make pages load slower.
