I know you're on depression medication and you're very open about it, and I was wondering if I could ask your advice (and the advice of the readers of your blogs as I'm sure many of them are on meds too). I've been taking Citolapram, an SSRI, for 5 days now, and I'm pretty sure I'm feeling worse. I'm 18, and the doctor did say there was increased suicide risk in young people. I'm also experiencing loss of appetite, fidgeting and twitching, and yawning. I had some hypersomnia before, but that may have worsened too. Can the side effects kick in that quickly? (I was feeling them after 2 days, so I don't know if they're placebo because I'm worrying, or a natural worsening of the depression, or if it's really side effects.) I know they say you don't feel an improvment in mood for 4-6 weeks, but do side-effects start earlier than this?
Also, if side-effects are experienced, does this mean if I stick with it that I will definitely experience an upturn in mood in a few weeks? Is this a good sign?
I'm feeling so damn low at the moment, and you were the first person I felt comfortable asking advice for.
