I just finished the last of the published Sookie/Southern Vampire books and really loved them. I read the first three before watching True Blood, and the following five after the show's season finale. The casting of the characters in the show was so good that it added to my enjoyment of the books I read later (well, except maybe Tara, who seems to be a completely character in the show).
