Dear Sender of English Chocolate Bars: Thank you thank you thank you thank you I love you squee! That is all.

More fun for y'all: 99 Sin City bases/icons. Many of them are different versions of the same image, but still: a pretty good selection. If I missed someone you wanted, let me know and I'll dig through what I've got. Take/want/have, alter, animate 'em together, be creative, have a party (but no hotlinking).

General linkspam:

New pics from Batman Begins, Harry Potter, and Star Wars. (More Batman pics here.)

There is now actually an Wikipedia-style encyclopedia entry on "My hed iz pastede on yay" (complete with original photo manip!), in case you've ever wondered what it means. I like to give myself credit for helping popularize the phrase with the Crystalwank metaquotes I did on Journalfen... and then I get over myself.

Yeah, I bet Michael Jackson feels "ill." I would too, if I had a lot of time on my hands to contemplate what would happen to me in prison.

In similar news, Paul Shanley gets 12-15 years for the Catholic priest sex abuse scandal. Lawyers estimate that he'll last 12-15 minutes in general population before he gets shanked.

Because Starsky & Hutch did so well.

Dear Usher: STFU.

Johnny Depp frightens children as Wonka. NO, REALLY?

(Mmmmmmmmchocolate.)

Keira Knightley stars in a movie about a model-turned-bounty hunter that's based on a true story. Only problem is, the real Domino is a lesbian. And she doesn't like the film's "raunchy [heterosexual] sex scenes." In other news, advance ticket sales just shot up 1000%.

The Amazing Race's Jonathan and Victoria will be on a Dr. Phil special tonight. One can only hope that Phil beats him to death with his own bottle of hair gel. (Actually, I'd like to see Host Phil turn up to help out with that.)

Back to work it is! I wonder what reading I have due for tomorrow...

That's the beauty of life - for every ying, there is a yang.

Thanks for the "hed iz pastede on yay" link! I'd seen the wank before, but this links to all kinds of good stuff. So checked her journal, which linked to her deviantArt gallery. It was all photography, but she had a picture of Sean Astin, which I looked at, which linked to a drawing (http://www.deviantart.com/view/9256611/) she did. Ok, that is probably definitely real. But then I looked at the rest of her gallery. We're supposed to believe that after that Sam drawing, she drew this (http://www.deviantart.com/view/15052502/) picture of Charlie? Very nicely Photoshopped, but definitely not a real drawing (check out how all angles in the hatching are exactly the same). And not only that, she has digital "paintings" up, too, like this one (http://www.deviantart.com/view/14238235/) of Billy Boyd. I must say, she has improved hiding her forgeries considerably since this sorry attempt (http://www.deviantart.com/view/13143821/) at doing "a portrait in oils or watercolors" of Galadriel.

Urk, sorry for venting in your journal, I just sort of feel personally affronted as an artist myself that I work so hard on real drawings and they get passed over at devART and she 'shops some photos and pretends to have drawn them and people are all like, "OMG U R SO TALENTED +FAV!!1!" I'm considering reporting her to the mods, but then again devART mods aren't the greatest....

OK I'll shut up now. :)

Ooooooh... Sin City icon goodness! Gimmiegimmiegimmie! ^^

On the subject of Domino: It was unclear to me in the IMDB article if this movie is based on the comic=book heroine rather than the real-life person I wasn't even aware existed until now. Was I mistaken in thinking, when I first heard about this movie that it was based on my favorite gun-toting white-makeup-wearing chick?

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, we had excellent fun during the wank itself actually hunting down the original photos and lining them up with the sketches using transparencies. She's really a very talented photoshopper and could probably do it professionally, if she'd just be honest about it and stop trying to pass it off as freehand art.

Re: Domino

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope, it's based on a real person.

MY HAPPYNESS IZ PASTEDE ON YEY! Hahahaha.

Usher, this is why people don't like you. Get over yourself and your stupid CD.

Johnny Depp as Wonka frightens ME.

Oooh, way to make sure every male person in America sees the movie. Geez.

Some Prestat and some Green & Black's--I've never heard of either brand before, but the one I tasted was gooooood.

Some Prestat and some Green & Black's--I assume they're English, since that's where the package seems to have come from. Never heard of either, but the one I tried was so good. : )

Aw, man, I got excited over nothing. *kick a can*

Well, there's always the "raunchy het sex scenes" to look forward to, I guess.

Oh good, so my mind really isn't the only one.

heh, that priest is gonna get what's coming to him. Is it bad if I'm taking dancing lessons and arranging for his grave to be a small dance floor? *dances madly*

I have no intention of watching that Dr. Phil episode with Jonathan and Victoria, but if I was certain that the good Doctor would murder him on-screen, I would definitely tune in. My roomie loves Amazing Race, but every time we watched it we wound up screaming at the screen and talking about how much we wanted his body to be found in a shallow grave with teeth marks all over it.

dr. phil

[identity profile] randomosity89.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm watching that. Personally, I'd only like it if Dr. Phil forgot about the human mind and just got up and beat Jonathan with a chair...maybe Victoria, too.

Y'know, I think I'd be pretty annoyed if someone did a movie about my life and decided that I was, oh, say, blind instead of having glasses, just to sell more tickets.

[identity profile] vivian-shaw.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Batman would thank you, but he's too busy standing around on rainswept rooftops and scowling.

Johnny Depp frightens children as Wonka. NO, REALLY?

You know what though, that's perfectly fine. I will be thrilled if all the children vacate the theaters so I can drool over watch Johnny all alone...

[identity profile] edda.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Gene Simmons is actually the tongue guy. But since Paul Stanley more and more is looking like the Wicked Witch of the West, yes, i'd say there's still plenty of ack there.

[identity profile] dietcokebreak.livejournal.com 2005-02-15 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Isn't Willy Wonka SUPPOSED to be scary? Or was I reading the wrong book??

Anyhow, have you seen the Sin City cover of the new Entertainment Weekly? Clive Owen is sporting some VERY. ODD. HAIR. The article about the film is excellent, despite some small spoilers.

When I heard Gerard Butler's voice ...

(Anonymous) 2005-02-15 11:12 pm (UTC)(link)
... I first thought hmmmm okay. Not trained. Seemed to strain for some notes big time in POTO and MOTN. But I was okay with it - sort of rough but sexy. Then I listened to MC recording - and I thought he sounded beautiful but well ... kinda feminine. Then I saw a clip of Point of No Return with MC voice dubbed over Butler's. Freaked me completely because it completely mined the sex out of the song for me. It was like hearing my grandma lip-sync over AC/DC.

Then I heard Hugh Panaro and Colm Wilkenson (sp?) and thought "Better, but I like it Butler's rougher voice". And now, I am a complete POTO movie soundtrack whore. I keep listening to it over and over and over again, especially PONR. I blame Butler for two things - making me see this cheese fest in the theater multiple times ("ohh, there he is in the Red Death outfit") and lowering my standards for musical theater. Bastard.

If a judge sentenced Paul Shanley or Michael Jackson to death by torture, that would be one thing. It's quite another to pretend that they're being sentenced to life imprisonment, when everybody knows perfectly well that it probably will be death by torture. Big fat screaming hypocrisy there, to let the prisoners do what the law will not do.

Also big fat screaming hypocrisy for people to gloat over torture and murder by prison inmates when the victim is some celebrity, but to expect protection from the same when its themselves or their loved ones facing a prison sentence. Either the Rule of Law means something, or it doesn't - either it's not acceptable for anyone to be beaten, raped or killed in prison, or it is acceptable. If it is, then that means acceptable for anyone - whether a 74-year-old child rapist, or your 18-year-old brother or son who got busted for marijuana possession.
