The Dionaea house

Y'all have to read this. I can't say if it's real or not--I think I admire it more as a work of fiction, actually. But it's just right for Halloween: the search for a man who disappeared while investigating an old friend who went crazy. Make sure you read the "updates" page once you've finished with the main site--a really interesting LJ is involved. (The LJ is another reason I think it's a work of fiction--it's nicely done, but it's rather convenient that the girl would start the LJ right before the creepy stuff started happening, and it would end within ten entries. A real journal would be--well, it would be someone like you or me, with several months of entries, probably a good number of friends commenting, and then the weird shit starting. But that's way, way involved for someone to just create.) You'll notice that the updates page has updated regularly and it was last updated... yesterday. I have hopes that we might get another update this weekend.

ETA: I've just gotten word that it will be updated soon. Let's not say anything more about that. ;)

Trixie had more interesting, less formulaic adventures, but she still seemed to be in dead heat with Nancy for me. Perhaps because I discovered Nancy Drew first? Even so, I loved Trixie Belden! (I still go around saying "Revenge is sweet — saccharine sweet" and wondering if anyone will get it.) ;)

I think I read Trixie before Nancy - maybe that is the determinative factor. I just loved the whole Bob White club and Mart and Brian and Jim and Trixie and Honey and...Di was ok too.
Scary how I can name them all!
Oh yes and Dan when he came along.

I always read Trixie Belden, was never very interested in Nancy Drew for some reason. I still have a bunch of those Trixie Belden books around here somewhere. Oh, I heart them so much!

I've actually contemplated buying them - because the ones I read were my sister's (the complete set, basically) and when I was younger I didn't have quite the same appreciation for keeping books nice that she did - so she got mad and packed them away so I wouldn't break the spines anymore!
*hangs head in shame*
Fortunately, I know better now. :)

I read the Trixie Beldon books after I found them in my school library, and then I couldn't find them anymore, and I was so sad! But then, last week-end, I found one at a school fete... *cue music* Total happiness.
As for Nancy Drew - I love the books, but only the earlier ones. They did some kind of 'Nancy and co. go to college' thing, but it was really stupid (eg Beth was anorexic). The tone of the books just wasn't there it was like, who are these people? They have the same names, but that's all!
